I've got about an hour of summer vacation left, and I thought, instead of studying Japanese as I've been doing all night, I should use it to update this here journal. So I am.
Tomorrow's a big day. New classes. New faces. I'm ready for it. C'mon, bring it.
I finished Kafka on the Shore last week. I still don't know how I really feel about it. It's certainly worth another read. I'd say that the novel's biggest shortcoming is that although it has touching, emotional moments, it rarely moved me to the point that The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle did. Then again, I found Kafka on the Shore to be consistently good, and I disliked most of Part III of The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle.
At Isabel, Kayla, and Roxanne's new place (Skanksburg?), a group of us including Hix, Alex V., and I played "Truth or Art". Everyone starts with a blank piece of paper. If the person being asked chooses "Art", the ask-er gives them something to paint onto their piece of paper. "Truth" works just like in "Truth or Dare". The paintings that came out of it were quite impressive, if I do say so myself. And I do. Say so, that is.
Today at work, a dog punched me in the stomach and left a huge red mark. Now, I know what you're probably thinking: "Dogs can't punch". I'm here to tell you that they do, they most certainly do. Well, at least this particular dog did. He had a face on that said "I don't want to be touched" and when I went to pick him up, he punched me in the gut with his cute little paw. Then, his expression was more like, "What? You didn't think dogs could punch, bitch?" I shook my head and somehow hoisted him over to the drying table.
Yet another wonderful thing happened today. I went to the grocery store in my pyjamas. I felt great. I can't really describe the feeling. I felt lighter, I guess. Anyway, I highly recommend it. Everyone should try it at least once.
Okay. If I don't stop now, I might miss my boat to the land of Nod. To those other Gainesvillians out there, have a great first day of class. I hope I will.
