end InterludeOh, and incidentally, I hate when people correct me when I say Frankenstein in reference to the monster and say "Frankenstein was the doctor/scientist." For one, it's just annoying, as everyone knows this and it remains a convenient way to refer to a character that wasn't named. But also because Frankenstein wasn't the doctor, Victor Frankenstein was the doctor, which may sound like I'm quibbling, but I'm not. See, the monster considered itself to be the doctor's son, and usually sons take the same last name as the father. So if the monster ever thought of itself by a name, I imagine it would have been Frankenstein. And even if it didn't, it remains the closest thing to a name you could give it. No given name, just a last name. Really, it could be considered more accurate to refer to the monster as Frankenstein, and the doctor as Victor or Victor Frankenstein... Or Vic Frank, if you're feeling audacious.
