Jeremy's P.O.V SUMMARY | The day after a fight between Patrick and Jeremy
~*~*~*~*~
Patrick’s P.O.V;
Patrick stomped off angrily towards school, the fight from the night before still sounding loudly in his head. He kicked a stone, realizing shortly that he hadn’t said goodbye to his mom, but he shrugged the thought off when it led him back on thinking about Jeremy. Jeremy. That fragile looking guy had looked so fiery yesterday, when he had shouted at Patrick, accusing him for not being open, for not loving him. And then Jeremy had just left, smacking the door after him, before Patrick had had time to say anything.
It pissed him off so much that he almost had been unable to sleep. But it also made him think…
As Patrick entered his classroom, he was greeted by his friends who had the unusual habit of meeting early every day. He shook his head at them and smiled, when they did their daily routine of joking and bragging. These were the persons he enjoyed spending hours of time with, whether it was playing sports or just plain chilling. They were his pack, his gang, those he belonged with. And they were not as fussy as Jeremy.
Speaking of the devil, Andy just had to bring him up: “So, Pat, where’s your wife? I didn’t see him this morning.” Patrick was about to shrug it off, but Justin continued. “Yeah, you two always stick together like an item, it’s weird to see you alone.” Inside he shook, as his friends laughed at this ‘joke’, but on the outside he smiled and said in a casual voice as if it meant nothing: “If it’s Jeremy you are referring to, he’s not my wife. We have just known each other for a long time, that’s all, I can do fine on my own.”
Just as the words had escaped his mouth, the door went up and in stepped Jeremy, and Patrick felt the colors leave his face. Those who didn’t knew Jeremy well wouldn’t have noticed the slight frown and the hardness in Jeremy’s eyes that was threatening to break at any moment, but Patrick saw it clearly, and he wanted to kick himself, punish himself, for being the reason of Jeremy’s expression.
“Patrick is right, the only reason why we talk is because we live close and have known each other for years.” Jeremy said with a clear voice as he stepped over and placed his lunchbox in front of him.
“Your mother asked me to give you this, you forgot it this morning since you apparently was in a hurry. See you.” Patrick caught the shakiness of Jeremy’s last words, but before he even had time to react, Jeremy had fled. Damn, why did he always have to be so fast once he had finished his own speech? Patrick hated this, hated that he was never able to express himself fast enough. Jeremy jumped to conclusions too fast for him.
“Hey guys, I forgot I promised to hand in the paper for the test last week, so I better do it now before the teacher realizes.” This sentence gained Patrick moans and mumbled complains, and his friends quickly forgot everything about Jeremy when the talk fell on homework. It almost made him smile at how predictable they were, and he got up from his seat. “Catch you later!”
As the bell rang, Patrick walked fast but coolly past the others who hurried to their classmates, as he searched for Jeremy. He almost gave up immediately, the school was quite large, but then he remembered that some of 2nd years were away, so their classroom should be empty, a perfect place to be alone, and he went there feeling confident about being right. Which he was, Patrick realized, when he entered and saw Jeremy frozen in a curled up position on the floor.
“So this is where you are hiding.” Not getting any response, which he hadn’t expected anyway, Patrick let out a sigh and sat down beside his boyfriend whom he noticed had tears streaming down his cheeks. “What did I tell you about crying?” Again, he almost wanted to kick himself, now clearly wasn’t the time for this. So trying to make up for it, he did something he rarely did - one of Jeremy’s bangs was stuck to his cheek, so Patrick gently stroked it behind his ear. “You’re so stupid.”
Still not getting any response, Patrick started to feel frustrated and poked Jeremy to provoke a reaction. “You dare to ignore me?” But the only reaction he got was a flinch, so he sighed and gave up on that method. “I’m sorry about just now.” Patrick paused, trying to find the right words.
“And I’m sorry about yesterday. This whole thing with you and me, I’m just not sure how to react. I’m… scared, but that doesn’t mean that I don’t…” But his voice failed to say what he was thinking in his mind, and it faded out.
“Please face me, I can’t talk properly to the back of your head.” Patrick said desperately, and finally Jeremy turned around. He grabbed the other by neck, pulled him into a deep kiss, before letting go and looking him straight in the eye. “I love you. I’m sorry for being a jerk, but I really do love you. I can’t leave you alone, yet I don’t know how to act around you and what to say.” Patrick could finally admit, though blushing, as action worked better than words for him. Jeremy sat still, before tearing up again, muttering an “I love you too”.
