Casey had bought porn from Zeke since the first day of freshman year. Other than their transactions, both boys pretended the other didn't exist in public. Casey always had cash, so Zeke wasn't one to ask questions.
Until the day Casey asked if he had any gay porn.
"What the fuck do I look like? A fag?" Zeke wasn't really angry, Casey's question just caught him off guard.
Red-faced, Casey stormed off.
Zeke didn't see him, not even in the halls, for two weeks.
Finally, Casey reappeared at the usual time at Zeke's car. Before he could ask, Zeke pulled a gay porn out of a brown paper sack and slid it back inside.
"It's on the house," Zeke said, holding it out. "I shouldn't have yelled at you like that."
Casey took the bag and shifted nervously from foot to foot.
"What? Did you need something else?"
"I was wondering if you would . . . Uhh . . . " Casey's blue eyes flicked up to meet Zeke's gaze. "Would you go to Homecoming with me?"
For a moment, Zeke could only stare at him. Finally, "Connor, I told you I'm not a fag."
As Casey walked away, Zeke realized that the boy in the porn Casey wanted looked like him. Zeke was promptly sick on the pavement next to his car.
Casey never bought another porn from him.
