Complete

Kusano stands in front of Koyama apartment, the door is open and voices can be heard from the outside.
As he entered the flat, the voices become clearer. Shige is standing near the hallway that leads to the living room, Koyama is about five feet away from him. Kusano can feel something is not right the moment he enters the room and notices the distress on Shige’s face.
None of them notice Kusano’s arrival, or they are simply ignoring it.
“I didn’t do anything!” Shige sounds like pleading, his hands shaking slightly.
“BULLSHIT!” Koyama throw the glass of water he’s holding, it lands against the wall behind where Shige and Kusano stand. Shige closes his eyes unconsciously as he hears the impact. Some of the sharp pieces hit Kusano’s sides over his thick sweater.
Shige doesn’t have enough time to complain as Koyama approaches him, taking his elbow callously.
“Look at Kusano.” Koyama shakes Shige’s body, turns him to face Kusano.
“I won’t!” Shige whines, averting his eyes, takes his arm away from Koyama’s tight grasp.
“LOOK AT HIM I SAID!” Koyama takes Shige’s chin firmly and makes him look at the boy standing still near them. “Look at what have you done to him.” Shige frowns, he doesn’t understand.
Kusano feels uncomfortable as both boys look at him intently.
“Did you have the slightest idea that he loved you?” Kusano lowers his head, doesn’t want to look at Shige’s expression, whatever it is. “But you kept playing with him.” Koyama talks into Shige’s ear slowly, dragging the words in anger and rests of sadness.
“You kept playing with everyone. I think this is too much…” Koyama stops touching Shige, gets away from him. “…even for me.”
“Kei, don’t leave me, please!” Shige reaches for Koyama’s arm, desperate. “I love you!”
Koyama slaps Shige across the face with his hand fully open, so hard Kusano has to flinch at the smacking sound. So hard it knocks Shige down, falls to the floor with a thump, inflamed and swollen lines across his cheek, his face feels like exploding. So hard it makes Koyama regret it for a second.
Shige lays a hand on his face. It feels throbbing and warm against his touch, blood leaking from the corner of his mouth. He presses his fingers harder, not believing what Koyama have done, winces at the pain.
“Leave.” Koyama isn’t looking at Shige; he turns around and walks out of the living room.
Within a second, Shige’s hysterical screams fill the space. It’s an endless cry: every time it fades, Shige sobs, draws a long shaky breath and starts to yell again. Shige shouts until his voice becomes hoarse, it sounds wobbly and pathetic. Tears wetting his face, his bloated cheek, his quivering lips.
And Kusano knows why Koyama isn’t looking at Shige. Why Koyama is leaving.
This is hurting Koyama more than is hurting Shige.
Kusano feels unsure of if he should help Shige, approaches him with hesitating steps.
“Don’t!” Koyama grunts already losing his temper “He doesn’t deserve your pity.” Approaching Shige, Koyama grips the boy's arm strongly. Shige whimpers because of the sharp pain of Koyama’s fingers digging into his skin, but he doesn’t get up, he merely struggles, clinging at Koyama’s grasp with his free hand, trying to free himself.
“NO!” Shige shouts when Koyama starts to drag him out of the apartment.
Shige squirms helplessly over the shards of glass scattering the floor.
It seems like a bad idea to Kusano. To drag the person you love the most over sharp objects, that’s it. But if Koyama doesn’t get rid of Shige now, he never will.
A rather piercing cry from Shige makes Koyama stop in his tracks. Looking at him, Koyama notices blood flowing down Shige’s arm.
“Open your hand, Shige.” Koyama crouches next to the shaky boy, almost begging him.
Shige shakes his head, keeps clenching his hand tighter around the glass piece so tight Shige’s fist starts to tremble. “I’ll kill myself!”
“Shige, please.” Koyama is grasping Shige’s wrist, looks shocked at the blood seeping out from Shige’s closed hand.
“I thought you didn’t care about whores like me!” Shige shouts to Koyama’s face.
Koyama slaps Shige again, softer this time, but it makes Shige drop the object, the skin of his cheek pounding with stinging pain.
“Look at this mess.” Koyama holds Shige’s hand, keeps it open, looking at the bleeding palm. The blood doesn’t let Koyama see how deep the cut is.
“I will… I’ll kill myself.” Shige’s voice has became monotonous, his expression blank. Just sporadic sobs interrupt his dull speech.
“Quit that.” Koyama looks at Shige, feels sick when he surveys the damage he has done. Shige’s face, even expressionless, is so sad, he’s completely shattered. It makes Koyama want to cry. It shouldn’t have got this bad.
Shige shouldn’t have been so stubborn.
“You don’t understand… no one does.” Shige stares at Koyama deadpan. “Kei doesn’t complete me.” Shige clings at Koyama’s shirt desperately, drenching it in blood.
“Kei is my everything.” Shige’s hands circle Koyama’s body, blood dirtying the clear fabric, his fingers dig into Koyama’s back. Shige’s head rests against Koyama’s chest, eyes closing.
Koyama sighs, fights for not hugging Shige back, but fails.
“I can’t love you, Shige. It’s killing me.”
Koyama takes Shige’s arms, frees himself from the boy’s embrace.
“Kei! Come back, please!” Shige begs with the voice he has left.
Koyama stands up, doesn’t see Shige, but stops as Kusano steps in front of him.
“I don’t hate Shige and I neither wish him to be unhappy… never.” Kusano just talks the truth, it hurts to even think he won’t feel Shige anymore, but he doesn’t want Shige to fall apart, not like this.
“If you don’t love Shige, I will hate you.” Koyama frowns at Kusano’s angry tone. “You are giving me hopes when I know already Shige will never love me… not like he loves you.”
Koyama keeps quiet, insecure of what to do. But seriously, Kusano thinks, what else he can do?
“You are a fool.” Koyama looks at him in disbelief, even his own answer sounds filled with doubt.
Kusano smiles as a few tears leave his eyes, laughs softly, can’t help but feel happy.
Koyama still loves Shige and Shige still loves Koyama. Knowing it breaks Kusano’s heart in the most gratifying way.
He is indeed a fool.
The last thing Kusano sees, as he leaves the apartment, is Koyama reaching for Shige, embracing him, squeezing his hands, kissing his forehead.
It’s raining heavily outside, but Kusano is thankful for it. There’s no one near.
Kusano stands under the rain for the longest time, its warm moisture comforts him. The grey sky envelopments him, heavy drops drift to the ground. Water soaks his hair, running down his face and chin, the hitting sound of water falling over the street bringing him peace. The strange taste of the rain dirtiness and salty tears gets to his mouth.
Suddenly he doesn’t feel the weight of the rain falling over his head anymore.
He looks up and sees through his tears the blurry sight of an umbrella over him, hears the heavy drops hit against it.
“Shige called me.” Yamapi is next to him, looking nervous as he slides a hand inside his pocket, rocks back and forth. “He said to look for you outside of Kei’s apartment… didn’t say why though.” Yamapi looks at Kusano and smiles.
Yamapi knows. He has always known Kusano.
“What about a walk under the rain?” Yamapi lowers his umbrella. His dark hair starts to drip wet.
Kusano tilts his head up to the darkening sky, the rain splashing full on his face, washing away the tears. “That would be great.”
Yamapi’s fingers slip inside Kusano’s hand, entwining with his own.
Kusano feels surprisingly calm and comfortable by Yamapi’s sudden gesture. “I thought you said you won’t love anyone but yourself.”
“I guess that makes me a liar.” Yamapi merely states.
“I guess it does.”
And, deep inside, it doesn’t feel like something is missing, like something is breaking apart.
It simply feels right.
