Well, we finished our contract here in Korea, and signed on for a second year. Despite all the ups and downs, it still feels like the right place for us to be right now. A number of cool new people have arrived (including a friend of ours from when we were in Japan), which means we've got friends here now. We've also paid off the debt we accumulated while I was doing the artist thing! Yippee!!!
One of the interesting things about Korean employment contracts is that you get a contract completion bonus after completing each year's contract. This is equal to one-month's pay. So, we've been doing a bit of shopping.
Two weeks ago, we replaced our (not quite dead yet, but definitely dying) laptop with a spiffy new black MacBook. It's so nice to have a computer that functions the way it's supposed to.
Yesterday we headed into Seoul and went camera shopping. We got a Canon EOS Kiss X2. This is the Japanese version of the EOS Rebel XSi. We bought the kit that came with the basic zoom lens and also got an EF 50mm f/1.8 II lens as well. A good macro lens is also on the list of things to buy "before I leave Korea" Eventually I'll be somewhere where I can make beads again, and will need to be able to take good photos of my work.
So, anybody want anything from Korea? I can send you Kimchi ;)
