I don't know how to follow that, really. It was both surprising and unsurprising, with major points for execution -- he planned a surprise trip to an undisclosed location which turned out to be Bruges, which was charming as hell. (Slightly less gunplay than in the Colin Firth movie.) A++!
What else should I say? I feel so stupidly goddamn lucky: to have ended up in a relationship 100% the opposite of my parents', with someone who shares my love of public transportation and spontaneous kitchen dance parties and overresearching things online. And I like his family! And almost four years in we're not even a little sick of each other! I feel more sure about this than anything I've ever done. Who knew heteronormativity could be so fun?
(An alternate way to tell the story: once upon a time in 2004 I moved to Boston and didn't know anyone and posted to this very livejournal that I was lonely, so pene long-distance introduced me to throughadoor and smartlikejustin, and throughadoor later got me a sweet-ass job at her office .... which is where I met the mutual friend who held the party where he and I met. LIVEJOURNAL: DON'T UNDERESTIMATE IT.)
So now we have to... plan a wedding? I.... wish I knew how to do that!
