Okay, here is that meme where people pick three interests and three icons and then you talk about them, also hi, I am an lj nerd:

from dollsome

daydreams about time travelers: you know how sometimes when a crazy person is looking at you funny on the T, don't get creeped out, they're *actually* just a time traveling historian from the future, come to observe you before you do whatever historically momentous thing you're going to do! Or what if you went back in time like A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court, would you be able to blend in enough to not mess up the timeline? How far back in time could you travel before English became incomprehensible to you? If you could travel back in time five years or ten, what would you do differently? If you could go back in time and redo highschool, wouldn't you be way cooler? If you went *forward* in time, what kinds of details about modern life could you provide that people wouldn't have known? Etc! I have a million of these without ever meaning to, I don't know why it's a thing for me.

looking in windows: I am a spy.

t.s. eliot: I know, I know, he's pretentious and racist and morose and I love him. I love him os much. I can't help it. I know where his college dorm was. I could read The Waste Land one million billion times.

keyword: work is hell
comment: she said no by the way.

Ohhhh, The Office UK, I love you too. Tim and Dawn was such a spare, heartbreaking relationship, and Tim was so much more of a loser than Jim and their little lives were just so suffocating and their chemistry was fantastic. Also I like this icon because it's probably the prettiest I've seen Lucy Davis look, haha. And who doesn't love Martin Freeman? And it's my default for hating having a real grownup job, sigh sigh.

stand still
well, THAT was a little weird

Look, don't laugh, Gilmore Girls is a good show. Lorelai/Lauren Graham is a DELIGHT and my favorite part of the show is the family relationships, but when Luke and Lorelai were on (like when it was gearing up at the end of season four/start of season five) it was fantastic: please see both the keyword and comment. Smoldering looks and physical comedy? Yes, please. Plus look how close they're standing, look how pretty she is in her headband, look how it looks like a summer's day somewhere right where you want to be.

what makes you happy
i who am but a dog

Hee, this is my new favorite icon. It's Rachel Bilson from some photoshoot, but I like it because dog + sundress + flowers = happy happiness. God, I miss having a dog. Keyword is from the Liz Phair song that goes: Listen here young lady, all that matter is what makes you happy and comment is... an incredibly dorky Chronicles of Narnia joke that I just typed up and deleted because no one needs to know that I still have the same sense of humor I did when I was ten. Plus, hey, remember when The OC didn't suck and Summer was awesome? when she decided she doesn't cry over bitches on boats.

Comment if you want me to pick three & three for you to talk about, etc.

I never watch movies, because I have the attention span of a gnat, but this weekend I watched TWO, and I've gotta say, I am totally annoyed at everyone who assured me I wouldn't think The Departed was boring. I mean, the middle was okay and kind of gripping, but ugh, the end. Movies about dudes with guns = uninteresting. Also the psychiatrist chick's Boston accent was atrocious, but the others were all right. The best part was definitely the shots of the city -- why can't all movies be filmed here?

And I found Talladega Nights surprisingly charming?

National Poetry Month is over! I feel kind of bereft! But these comics about the ex-poet laureates are cracking me up. Particularly the Billy Collins characterization. And hey, if you missed out, here are the archives of my poem-a-day project for the last three Aprils. 90 poems! -- I'm probably just about done with everything that's ever been written by now, right?
