You will find her much altered.

I have no idea how I'd survive the winter without my hot water bottle. I only had a vague sense of what one even was before I moved to England, and then all the girls in the Neville's Cross house had them. (MC used to tuck hers up under her sweatshirt and take it to the library.) That house was always unbelievably cold, even later, in the middle of summer, when I was living there. Anyway, I finally caved and got one and it's fantastic for: taking to bed so it's not too cold to fall asleep! Curling up on the couch with! Considering a civil commitment ceremony to! If, like me, you are trying to get through the winter with neither bankruptcy-inducing heating bills or frostbite, I highly recommend it.

Have you guys heard there's going to be a This American Life tv show on Showtime? I was skeptical at first, but the trailer looks surprisingly awesome. It totally feels like the radio show? Oh, Ira Glass. Now I just have to hope it shows up on iTunes or bittorrent.

Here are three songs by a band I am really digging right now, Page France:
- Windy (this song does a fantastic job feeling windy)
- Me, Violin and Dancing Bear
- Chariot

And two more by other people:
- Pizzicato Five, Baby Love Child (really sweet J-pop; this plays at the end of the Futurama episode where Leela finds her parents)
- Peter, Bjorn & John, Objects Of My Affection (I love how those guitars are not fucking around)

To contradict my first paragraph, we keep having these days where the temperature breaks 40 degrees and it's fantastic. That kind of elation that makes winter totally worth it. You can tell I've been living in New England for a while because just now I was walking home from the grocery store and there were guys shoveling snow wearing shorts and flipflops, and it didn't seem particularly weird to me. Here's what I'm thinking: there's half a week until February is over, two weeks until daylight savings time, and less than a month until official spring. When I lie in bed I can hear everything thawing.
