Title: In a Black and White World
Pairing: Jessica/Tiffany, Jessica/Taeyeon
Rating: PG13
Word count: approx. 1200
Taeyeon sat on her living room couch. Her fingers were running through Jessica’s soft, brunette hair. The latter was soundly sleeping, her head resting on Taeyeon’s lap and her cheeks stained with tears. Taeyeon wondered why and how she had gotten herself into this position again. Why did she try to mend Jessica’s heart, when the latter had always broken hers?
She wondered why this world was so unfair, so cruel.
Flashback
Taeyeon was about to ring Jessica’s doorbell when she was stopped by a loud, high-pitched scream. Her fingers hovered over the doorbell, wondering if she was hearing things or not.
“Ah!” That was unmistakably Jessica.
Taeyeon banged on the door, shouting, “Jessica, open the door!” There was a brief silence, but a few seconds later, she heard loud thuds and things shattering. “Damn it!” Taeyeon had no other choice. She ran towards the back of the single-house and climbed over the gates.
As soon as she reached the kitchen, she was absolutely stunned by the sight before her. It looked as if a tornado had just run through the place. Taeyeon’s eyes darted towards the stairs when she heard another scream echoing through the halls. She ran up to Jessica’s room and found the latter throwing her memories onto the hardwood floor.
“Why?!” Jessica asked, her voice hoarse.
Taeyeon flinched at the loud noise the glass produced as it made contact with the floor. She bent down and picked up one of the frames. Behind the broken glass held a picture of two young women, both smiling. One of them was Jessica; the other was a young lady with brilliant red hair, her eyes forming crescents.
The older woman slowly approached the crying brunette, careful to not startle her.
“Sica, please stop destroying your home. You can’t do this every time…” Taeyeon stopped. Her voice was beginning to fill with venom. “You can’t do this every time you and Tiffany get into an argument.”
Jessica did not look back at Taeyeon. She only held on tighter to the frame that was in her grasp.
“Your relationship… it isn’t healthy.”
Jessica tried to steady her uneven breathing.
“Have you ever thought that maybe Tiffany-”
“Stop.”
“Tiffany isn’t the one-”
“Stop,” the brunette said again, but this time, her voice more bitter.
“You need to move on.”
“Stop it!”
Taeyeon reached for Jessica’s shoulders and turned the younger woman around.
“Jessica, why can’t you realize that there is someone out there who loves you more than Tiffany? Can’t you see?”
“You don’t understand…”
“Can’t you see that I love you more than Tiffany?!”
“I’m sorry…”

Flashback
“Tiffany.”
“What did you come here for, Taeyeon?”
Taeyeon took a deep breath and replied, “You need to let Jessica go.”
“What?” Tiffany lowered her brows at Taeyeon’s outrageous request.
“You need to let Jessica go,” Taeyeon said again, this time more of a command than a suggestion. “Do you have any idea how many times she came to me crying? Do you know how crazy and child-like she gets when you leave her?”
“I can’t let her go. I love her…”
“You’re hurting her!”
“You’re confusing her!”
“W-What?”
“Ever since you confessed your love to her, we’ve been having so many arguments because of you!”
“What…?”
“What if this? What if that?” Tiffany mocked Jessica’s voice. “You know, Jessica and I have had our share of arguments, but she has never doubted our love… not until you happened.” The redhead’s voice was filled with irritation.
“What about the arguments before my confession? I’m pretty sure they weren’t about me!”
“That’s none of your business.”
“Jessica is my business.”
“Jessica is my girlfriend, and we love each other. Why can’t you just accept that?!”

Taeyeon was in front of Jessica’s doorstep. She came to visit the brunette to see if she was fine. She was about to ring the doorbell, but remembered that Jessica had entrusted her with the key to her home. She shook her head and smiled at the thought. Was this a step closer to becoming something more than a crying shoulder?
Taeyeon opened the door and was immediately showered with shouts being thrown back and forth. She made her way upstairs, but stopped in front of Jessica’s bedroom.
“I can’t do this anymore!”
“Why is Tiffany here?” Taeyeon whispered, her eyes peeking through the door creak.
“Why? Is it my fault guys keep hitting on me? As a matter of a fact, guys hit on you too, but you don’t see me blowing up into a jealousy bomb!”
Jessica closed her eyes, took a deep breath, and calmly retorted, “At least I don’t flirt with them.”
“I wasn’t flirting!”
“What the hell?! I’m not a damn three-year-old.”
Tiffany threw her arms in the air, replying, “I’m done.” She walked towards the chair and grabbed her pink cardigan.
Oh crap! She’s heading this way.
Her mind was filled with possible scenarios that could unfold if she got caught. But before anything happened, Taeyeon caught sight of Jessica sighing in defeat and grabbing Tiffany’s wrist.
“Tiffany, I’m sorry.”
The said woman tried shaking Jessica’s hand off, but the action only caused the latter to hold on tighter.
“I was just really jealous, okay?”
“Jessica, we can’t do this anymore.” Tiffany tried prying the brunette’s hand off once more but to no avail. “We can’t always fight over stupid things like this.”
Tiffany turned away, but Jessica immediately grabbed her by the arm and threw her against the wall. The redhead arched her back at the painful impact. She was ready to throw her anger upon the brunette, but was silenced when Jessica smashed her lips against her own.
A few moments later after their battle of teeth and tongues, the older woman pulled away. She bit Tiffany’s lower lip, which emitted a whimper from the younger woman.
“I said I’m sorry.” Jessica gazed into Tiffany’s chocolate-brown eyes.
“Jessi…” Tiffany voice trailed off; she had given in to Jessica’s apologies once again. Her shoulders slumped. “Our relationship is really unhealthy.”
“I know.” Jessica snaked her arms around Tiffany’s waist. She rested her head on the redhead’s shoulder and kissed the side of her neck.
“But it’s worth it…” Tiffany’s voice grew into whimpers of approval as the older woman began showering her neck with kisses.
Taeyeon tore her eyes from the scene before her. She moved away from the door and sat down, slouching against a wall. The brunette closed her eyes and clenched her jaw, her hand moving towards her chest. She gripped the area where her heart lay.
Why does this have to hurt so much?
Taeyeon could only sit and wonder, but she knew that when her heart recovered, she will willingly hand it back to Jessica. And the latter will break it again.
Behind the walls, the murmurs of the love-making couple brought Taeyeon back to the physical world. It was when she had finally realized that in this black and white world, there was no gray.
The End
A/N:
Well there we have it: angsty JeTi and broken TaengSic.
I was inspired to write this fiction because sometimes it seemed as if Jessica and Tiffany were in their own world - their own little world where no one else was allowed but them (e.g. their little award moments). Then Taeyeon comes into the picture and tries to add more shades to their world… most times, coming out very unsuccessful.
Thank you for reading! ^^
