They're doing our job for us ...

That's right, my friends, Universal wins Tuesday's "We're The Biggest Jerks in The AMPTP" award in an amazing show of 'force' that has just made them look that much more like conglomerate jackasses.

Several of you know that some of the WGA members who run United Hollywood started Pencils2Moguls, a demostration of support campaign that is, in my mind, 80% civil disobediance and 100% brilliant. Basically, if you go to the website you can buy a box of pencils ($1 per box) inscribed with the name of the TV show, and thereby the writers, you support. They will take the gathered boxes in shipments and deliver them to the gates of each studio, along with a packet of suggestions on where to donate the pencils, as a show of support from the fans.

The first shipment came and they tried to deliver them Tuesday. Here's where it gets fun. NBC refused the shipment at the gates. Okay, fine. So did Disney. Fair enough. If the shipments aren't accepted, the WGA makes their point AND gets to donate pencils to needy kids and schools as well. Fantastic. They go to deliver the Universal shipment?

Universal calls the police.

Not only were the WGA strikers there, but this was the day that the Heroes writers had called fans to come down and show support, so there were fans and actors there as well. And Universal felt it was necessary, in front of all these people, to protect themselves from a delivery of 500,000 pencils by calling in the police.

... I don't need to make the jokes, folks. They do it themselves. Seriously. I mean, how bad do they think they can make themselves look? Especially when we're talking about an act of solidarity from the fans, in front of the fans? Hohoho! Yep. Jackasses. They could've quietly taken the shipment, or even just refused it like the other congloms. But noooooooo. XD Oh. It is too much.

My pencils were in there. Just knowing that makes me feel better about not being able to go out and show solidarity. It makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside.
