i think i'm in the burnt-out stage of my year, which is really not good at all, since i have soooo much work to finish before the end of the semester. i have less than a week to seriously revise (read add things to) my mémoire before turning it in to my director next week. then i have 2-3 papers due within the following two weeks, along with an exposé. eich, i just don't feel that motivation. i did apply for some more jobs, well, if apply means posting my resume to the gov't jobs site as well as an independent school site. i found two really perfect ones today, though, so i'll get cover letters written up as soon as i get out of this slump.

yesterday i went to see garden state with addie and renata. i really liked it; there was a lot that i liked about it. it's funny though how you forget that you're in a foreign country while watching a movie that takes place in new jersey, then suddenly you walk outside to loud traffic passing and the smell of the creperie next door. after, we met up with natalie and her friend emily at the moosehead to watch the simpsons and take advantage of the pitcher + wings happy hour special. beamish and buffalo wings were a big success, but scandinavian hockey was on the big screen - dommage. we did have a good time though, socializing and forgetting about work for a couple of hours. i like walking from that neighborhood (odéon/st. germain) to my bus stop on the rue de rennes on a monday night when no one is out and everything is closed. it was a gorgeous, crisp night and i could hear the music from the jazz fest coming from inside st. sulpice as i passed. then it's the monumental fountains as i walk through the cour, and then silence save the rare moto whizzing past. paris does enchant, no doubt about that.

BACK TO WORK, YOUNG ONE!!
