sea, sun and bloodsuckers

I've just come from my vacation today. We went to island Murter in Croatia. We basically lazed about for a week, sleeping or reading on the beach, occasionally swimming during the day and being eaten alive by mosquitoes during the night in the rented apartment. *scratchscratch* :) It was lovely. Well, not the bloodsucking monsters. But the water ( Read more... )

Aww, I want to lie on the beach doing nothing too!!! *jealous* D: The place looks gorgeous! The water looks really refreshing. :)

No mosquitos here, thankgod. I really hate mosquitos. :P

It was a lovely place. Can't you go to the seaside for a vacation? I suppose just coming to visit with family every year is financially-and-time consuming. :( And I haven't been to the seaside in a few years either. This was after a long time for me.

I hate mosquitoes as well! *scratchscratch* :P

We might have some time off again in August. Maybe for one of those last minute trips. :)

Last minute is cool. :) I hope you manage to go!

Since I'm writing to you I thought I'd mention S. found out today that he can have time off first two weeks of October. We were thinking of going to Stockholm first week of October. Is that good time for you so we can meet up? :) Or is it still to early to say? He's looking at plane tickets&we're figuring out our trip just now. :D

Lovely photos! Glad you had such a great holiday. Don't you get mozzies in Slovenia?

Thank you! :) It was lovely. When are you leaving for the Russian adventure?

Oh, we do have them, but at home we only get one or two at most at a time - and our repellent that we put in the electric socket works its magic and we have mozziefree flat most nights. However, just the first night at the seaside S. the mozzie killer took at least ten of them down, being up half the night, but new ones just kept coming in, the bzzzing never stopped and we have bites all over as our repellent wouldn't work at all for some reason.

We are off to Russia next week, flying to Moscow, then 2 days on the train to Novosibirsk in Siberia, stay there with a Russian family for a couple of days then back on the train again for a week or so in Moscow. Exciting! (And a bit scary...)

Could I ask you a favour...? I have a job interview next Tuesday at the professional organisation of landscape architects here, managing their library and archives. It's a nice job which I would like to get, I think. I have to give a presentation as part of the interview, talking about new information services they could provide etc... so would it be ok if I ask you a few questions about how I should approach this, to help with the presentation? If you haven't got time or anything that's fine, but I just thought I'd ask...

I replied this morning but now realise that lj must have eaten the reply as it is not here. :(

It does sound very exciting and scary! :) I hope you'll have a good time. Are you going to take photos of the eclipse? How many eclipses have you seen so far? I've only seen one.

Sounds like a nice job. :) Ask away! What sort of presentation and what sort of information services?
I have to say in advance that I'm not sure what exactly I will be able to help you with as there isn't really a publicly open landscape architecture themed library I've ever really been to. At our uni department the library was really far from something to be proud of, the town planning institute library is now being put in motion to open to public, but they're still working on it, so I had to resort to public libraries mostly. I've seen books&magazines etc. at various offices but that's probably not what you would be doing? I am working, so I only have time early morning and late afternoon/evening. But if I can help with something, feel free to ask. :)
