running around town
It's a rainy Autumn morning today and S. and I tried to get to the store to buy a few goodies for lunch but our quest was thwarted as we only got as far as my old school where... the road was closed due to the marathon. It's not like it was closed closed, but people were running and running and we felt it dreadfully rude to interrupt them, especially as it was raining and I felt bad enough for them as it was without stepping in their way. The funny thing was, that apparently we were trying to cross the road right next to the half way mark and there was a brass band playing, hidden away in the shelter of the school's entryway (presumably to cheer on the runners and help mark the half way of their long way around town). We looked on the soaking wet marathoners for a good quarter of an hour, waiting for an opening to cross the road, but no such luck. Some people run really weird though, so it wasn't really boring :) *giggles* But we gave up eventually and so today's lunch shall consist of yesterday's leftovers, but we shall try to persevere in these trying times :P.
