I went down to St. James Infirmary

More sunshine, lollipops, and rainbows.

My grandmother is staying at Johns Hopkins to wait for surgery. They did a CT scan to get an idea of where the problem was. They have found that, as far as I've heard. However, the scan also revealed what looks like a malignant liver tumor. Liver cancer is notoriously difficult to cure, so I can only hope that they've spotted it before it has spread.

I never really realized it as a kid, but my grandmother had a pretty impressive life - she managed to get a degree in chemistry during an era much less favorable towards women's education, managed to raise 8 kids, all of whom are very intelligent and well-adjusted, and even went back to school to eventually become the head radiologist at a hospital. Certainly she will die sometime, as all people do, but I'm finding the prospect much harder to deal with because I only respect her more the more I find about her.
