So this blizzard popped out of a nowhere...and apparently school RIGHTFULLY WASN'T CANCELED. j;alsfd;ajsfd;lksjf I'm sorry, but it is NOT SAFE for people who live DOWNTOWN or even NOT IN BURLINGTON to haul their asses up to the top of Mount Everest in this crap. It's just not safe.
I love my school, I love UVM, and everyone here, and I mean no disrespect to those in charge. But I'm really disappointed. NOT because I didn't want to have class...I actually love my classes, and I love school, and I love my little corner in the library where I sit for 3 hours between classes doing homework. But coming home my bus was 10 minutes late, and it took 25 minutes to make an 8 minute trip. And I feel that is slightly ridiculous. The steep part of Mount Everest, Colchester Ave, which is where I live (at the bottom) was so bad, THE BUS SLID. I mean he didn't like SLIDE all the way down. He had to step on his breaks real fast and we didn't stop all the way! Half the people riding actually got OFF the bus and walked across the bridge to Winooski, which is the next stop after my place. I don't know, I just feel this is one of those days where we could have canceled classes, and everyone would have been warm and safe.
But no, here I am, starving, but too cold and tired from trudging through the snow, to do anything about it.
I think I'm going to order a pizza....I hope Dominos will deliver to me even though I live around the corner from them...
By the way...Here's the beginning line and ending line of the email that was sent out at 3pm this afternoon...don't know what took so long...
"At the present time the University will not be closing due to the weather."
and
"We ask people to use common sense and judgment in this typical winter weather in Vermont."
Yeah, it's typical, but that means we need to ACT RATIONALLY....
I CAN'T EVEN SEE WINOOSKI. I think it's still there...either that or it was eaten by snow. Although, the glowing lights must be cars driving down the rotary.
I'm grumpy.
