So I recently realized that my literary life has had a darkened history of The Terrible Rule of Thirds. If I am reading a book series, I seem to have this habit of only reading the first and second book, and then quitting soon into the Third--if I even have the gumption to pick it up at all, that is. So my reading repetoire has this pathetic pattern of careless commitment, with the only exception I can think of being Harry Potter.

I do this with just about everything! Narnia, The Draco Trilogy, Paradigm, Sword of Truth, A Wrinkle in Time... and I almost did it again with Ender's Game. But no more! I don't make New Year's Resolutions really... but I do have this goal: embrace the Thirds. I've started with Paradigm and Ender. I'm audiobooking Xenocide and have Hero With A Thousand Faces on my Kindle. Xenocide has been excellent so far! I really love it. HwaTF on the other hand has been a total bummeeeerrrrrr!!!!! PoU and STNE were all wonderful and adventurous and exciting--the romance was the added bonus. But HwaTF has almost ZERO action so far, save for chapter one, and I'm getting really bored. Take away the adventure and all you have is a really obvious and belabored smut novel.

I SWEAR I will EXPLODE If I have to read one more chapter about "Harry and Hermione are so perfect for each other and they love each other so much that there's not a word to describe the kind of love they have and even when they argue they argue so well in a thoughtful and constructive manner and Harry is so handsome and rich but he's really modest about it because inside he is still such a tender and scared little boy and Hermione is so beautiful even though she doesn't realize it because she's like so smart and caring but they still have like flaws and secrets that I swear make things super way difficult but all they want to do is dance, dance, dance."

I mean really. Chapters 2 - 7 have so far been one, big, long run-on sentence. There are many scenes I just skim. I mean, don't get me wrong, I've still been enjoying it because--hey--it's Paradigm! But the H/H relationship in this fic so far has been... You know what?--I'm just going to say it. I know Paradigm is so legendary and perfect but I am just going to say it! H/H's relationship has been sooo Mary Sue and I'm starting to see why Lori didn't finish it!

There it's been said. Woo! Well... Now on to read some more, I guess... :D
