I have been have a GREAT time here on campus. I work every weekday from 11am-5pm, which are fun hours, and now I feel like I am truly earning my weekends. Since I don't have to go to work until 11, I have lots of time in the morning to wakeup, make a good breakfast, get things done. It's a beautiful, sunny morning today, so I decided to go into Phoenixville and have breakfast at Artisan's.
Oh! I know I talked with a few people about coming down to visit sometime... If you are free for the weekend of July 9th, that The Blob weekend here in Phoenixville. I know I've talked about it constantly, but if you've been fortunate enough to not hear one of my rants: The classic 1950's horror film The Blob was filmed here in Phoenixville, and the vintage movie theater here in town, The Colonial, is famous from the film. The Blob enters the theater and all its patrons run out screaming. Well for years now, Phoenixville has celebrated this movie every summer by screening The Blob in The Colonial and then reenacting the famous "running out," where we all get up from our seats and run out screaming.
I have been wanting to go to this since my freshman year in college.
Now I am buying two tickets. And the first person to come down here can have the second one. I am going to see The Blob. There's also the Blob Ball in Club 212 in Phoenixville, where everyone dresses up in 50's clothes and there's all sorts of wonderful goings on...
Now onto recent news. Last weekend was really fun. I went to Kristin and Paul's on Friday to have dinner--which was amazing. Greek chicken with feta & rice. Then on Saturday I went to a parade in Phoenixville. A HUGE parade with amazing bands and floats! And afterward I just wandered around Phoenixville going to all the shops, buying food, and then I walked over to the carnival in Reeve's park--which was packed to the brim with games and food vendors and state-fair-caliber carnival rides.
That Sunday, I taught my Sunday school kids about Jericho. We had a buttload of modelling clay that we used to make a city. Then I told them about Jericho, and then we marched around the city Jericho we built with instruments and yelled and CRUSHED it!! Oh it was so much fun!
And this weekend was great too! On Saturday, Priscilla and I went garage-sailing (as I like to call it) to find more pieces for our costumes for Comic Con. After the garage sales, which afforded us a few goodies (necklaces, shoes, belts, a book...) we went to the Phoenixville Farmer's Market, which was incredible! We're going there again the first weekend in June! After that we had lunch at my place and watched 30 Rock, and then went to the Goodwill in Exton for some more pieces, where we really struck big. Not only did Cilla find THE perfect dress for her costume, but she found me a great belt for mine--AND I got a vintage silk dress to wear to Erhin's wedding coming up! The best part was when we went to buy our stuff, the cashier at the register thought we were cute and rang us up for cheap. I ended up getting all my items for less than the actual price of the dress! And Cilla got her dress for $2 and he forgot to ring up one of her belts! Amaziiing... After that we went to H&M and Ross... Great day. We wrapped it up with a pizza from the always stellar Bella Napoli and watched yet more 30 Rock. Tonight she's coming over to work on our costumes. I think we might finish them up tonight!
Gah, I can't wait.
Well I must run. Work starts in 20 and I must drive back to school. Mmmm I had a mocha and a chocolate mango bomb for breakfast.
Ahahahaha! It's a DESSERT for BREAKFAST. I love being an adult.
