Having fun with a fox, platypus and a greasey monkey!

It's really more fun than one might think. I'm continuing my Firefox extension theme from the last post, but this time were talking about two plugins that will provide with hours of fun.

It all starts with GreaseMonkey, an igenius little piece of code that allows you to alter the contents of the web pages that you are viewing. Users can write scripts that will do pretty much anything and everything their heart desires. Don't like the banner ads that display on your favortie online store? Zap 'em with a GreaseMonkey and a custom user script! The next time you visit that page, GreaseMonkey automatically removes the banner ads!

For the average user however, writing the GreaseMonkey scripts can be a very daunting task. Luckily Platypus was written to help with just that. Activate Platypus while viewing a page, and you can suddenly highlite the unruly elements of the page and click 'Delete'. When you're done, save the GreaseMonkey script that Platypus automatically generates for you and presto! Your very own custom GreaseMonkey script.

If you're too lethargic to install Platypus, head over to the GreaseMonkey User Script archive and pick from the multitude of prewritten scripts.
