Grandpa out of hospital finally

Sep 28, 2008 00:26

Two weeks ago my 87 year old Grandpa was severely injured while cutting off a tree limb. It was a large limb and as it fell it swung back into the legs of the ladder causing it to break and Grandpa to be thrown to the ground. After waking up on the ground and finally being able to get up, he picks up his saw and puts it away in his storage building before going in and asking Grandma to call an ambulance.

Damage: 7 broken ribs and internal bleeding. He had emergency surgery. Then spent the next week and a half with a tube in his lungs. Once tube was taken out he spent a few more days recovering.

I still can't get over the fact that he took the time to put his tools away before getting help.

Side note: It was discovered during all of this that in all 86 years of my Grandma's life she's never had to put gas in a car. She didn't even know how.
