first of all, i just want to say that my roommate nisee is an AMAZING artist and a wonderful human being. i am very proud of her! :D
went to her performance art exhibition tonight and loved not only her pieces but ALL of the participants. wonderful.
then, as i was walking back to the engineering parking structure, i noticed an odd sound, like trickling water, coming from behind a hedge. mildly curious, i walked around and saw that the sound was coming from a large, pefectly square grate in the grass. each side was probably over a yard long. its parameter was thick concrete. it was too dark to see what laid beneath the grating. At first, i thought that there was running water underneath it, but about halfway there i realized that the sound was being created by the big, dead leaves stuck upright between the slats of the grate. By the time i saw that they were moving, i was already upon the grate, and was greeted by a surprise of hot air drafting up out of the dark depths. I stood on the concrete border, peering futilely at the inscrutable, unlikely origins of this heat and wind that made the leaves dance and sing.
