It's a weird process to quit a job you've been at for awhile--especially a company of this size.
Step 1: Document everything that you're in the middle of doing. Most of my projects are detailed on Wiki so that's not a big issue...but what about all the little one-off things and conversations and routines?!
Step 2: Delete all your personal files and email. (Thankfully I don't keep much on my work computer that's not work--I learned my lesson big time at my last job when I was given an hour to clear off my computer before I left the building).
Step 3: Wrack brain to think of any and all cool people for goodbyes. There's 6 floors of people here that I've worked with on various projects over the years. I know I'll forget someone that I don't want to forget. Maybe I'll walk the halls.
Tomorrow I go for my "exit interview" and then I've got three days of goodbye lunches and cocktails, a week off and then a new job!
How strange it will be to go from a company of 2300 to a company of 8; an easy bus trip and comfy office to a long commute and chaos. I'm definitely up for the change and the challenge. I just hope I'm not taking on more than I can handle right now. Planning several birthdays, a wedding, rehearsal dinner, honeymoon, a family trip to the Washington coast, Passover in Vegas and a new job at a start up...it's kind of a lot.
I think I'm only feeling overwhelmed when I pause...so I guess I just won't do that. :)
