Worst XMas Gift...Ever
Yesterday, James Brown died. The Godfather of Soul, the Hardest Working Man in Show Business is dead. Despite all the drug abuse, nutiness with guns, police chases, and wife beating, he truly was a great performer, innovator, showman, and artist. Maybe it would've been better for him to burnout than to fade away. However, if that were the case, we'd never get "Living in America", a great Rocky song. Say what you will about his later life, there are a few undeniable facts about James Brown: the man could dance as if the soles of his shoes were made of butter, he looked good in a cape, he could sing, he had high standards for his backup band, he was one of the bigger crossover artists, and he accomplished all this with minimal education while growing up during Segregation in the South.
