Halloween has come and gone. My costume this year was Awesom-O. Basically I had the idea and built 10% of it while Jan built most of it (due to this week being midterms and I had my sculpt and walk cycle to turn in; both taking lots of time). The costume looked awesome. It was just the right amount of style and ghetto to truly be a good Awesom-O costume/replica. We went out and prowled around the Castro, so if you saw a giant cardboard box robot wandering the Castro, that was me. I got to strut my stuff and take lots of pics with people. There were a bunch of incedibly stupid and drunk people who would tap on the costume or hit the arms or something usually while asking if there is anyone in there. None of this really bothered me. Then, some fucking asshole just clocked me in the back of the head for no reason. We're just walking, with Jan in her sexy yukata leading, and this black guy just like roundhouses me to the back of the head. I cursed him off as he and his friends laughed and walked away. Basically the head took all the damage and it flew off my head. I had a light throbbing sensation and, what was far worse, a lack of tape holding the head firmly onto the box that made up my body. Good thing this happened on the way home. All in all, even that wasn't bad. It also prompted me to think that next year, I should line the inside with steel. The costume was also incredibly sweaty by the end of it. Turns out that wearing a cardboard box, sweatpants, and gloves while walking up and down hills and around an area packed with people makes one produce a great amount of sweat. Also, my arms are killing me due to the fact that the body box was basically resting on my deltoids the entire time. In the end, it was a fun night with a great costume and I look forward to possibly seeing a random pic of me in that costume up somewhere on the internet.
We then went home and watched Saw II. I was a huge fan of Saw and had somewhat high expectations for the sequel. Unfortunately, the sequel turned out to be worse than the original. The acting, story, and everything about it overall was worse. There was absolutely no subtlety, the character are all incredibly stupid, you never really get to know any of the characters or care about them, and it was just a gore flick. By increasing the body count, they turned it into a slasher flick and got rid of all the tension and suspense of the first one. It was a disappointing end to an otherwise pretty good night.
