It's been 10 days---ahh geez I gotta update!!!

So I've been working like a madman as of late--planning ahead, making up for downtime during the holidays makes me feel all responsible and stuff.  It helps keep me motivated to remember that Sundays pay double time if I've worked all week AND if I work that following Monday.  It gives new meaning to the term "case of the Mondays".  But please don't ever say that to me, anyway.

So another MTSU football (read: losing) season has come and passed, and it looks like the powers that be have finally decided to take action.  It put a smile on my face to see the front page of this morning's paper read: "McCollum fired".  Let me say--I'm not one to wish a job away from anyone.  We all have to make a living.  But decisions have to be made in the best interest of the football program, and quite frankly, he was doing a ultra-crappy job. The same tired plays (that didn't work) were repeated, talent was misused/overlooked, and when you take a knee just before halftime when that could have been one more opportunity--well--what do you THINK that would brood to a home crowd?  I'm sure he's not the only one to blame here--but maybe to much damage has been done here to save them from falling out of division I status.  Since that's based on attendance, most students probably won't care anyway.  I guess that's what happens when you build a Sports Hall of Fame before you have a use for one.

Let's see, what else is new with me...I saw Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire on Saturday.  I can only speak for myself when I say that I was not disappointed.  Definitely deserving of the PG-13 rating.  I guess this bigger news, though, is that I went with a girl (gasp!)  Of the masses of corpses that pass through Pillsbury, she's one of the few there that actually seems to have a pulse.  Amber went to TTU and got her Associate's degree in drafting (or something that was related to drafting--I can't remember).  She's "pretty much" doing what I'm doing--keeping income coming while looking for her actual job.  But--yeah...it's nice to see someone there that's actually my age, much less someone with a similar background.  She has the sweetest country accent, too.  I don't think I'm normally attracted to that.  I've been making her laugh a lot ever since she told me that "funny is good", so I think I'm in pretty good graces.  Plus, she said I resembled Johnny Depp in my MTSU photo ID.  That caught me completely off guard--I usually get so much flack for my long hair.

I was like, "Why thank you.  That's the first time I've heard that.  From a girl."

For those of you wondering how my job search has been going, my plan was to wait until I got my resume critique from MTSU's career center.  I've been waiting three weeks now.  I know time is of the essence here, but I really do need to know what's wrong with my resume before I keep sending it out.  I only have so many first impressions to give...I suppose that's a petty reason, but I need to know if my new format will be effective or not.  I'm going to see my coordinator tomorrow and back her into a corner.  This really is ridiculous--I'm sure she's busy, but I hope I'm not being overlooked just because I'm an alumnus.  Not a feeling I need to have right now...to think their assistance isn't offered to me anymore, but they can certainly solicit me for continued financial support.  "YOU HAVE ENOUGH OF MY MONEY, DAMMIT!"

I'm in Crossville for Thanksgiving roughly from Wednesday afternoon to Monday morning.  I'd like to see anyone who will be around, and would enjoy my company.  Any takers?
