[ ... It doesn't look like Shizuo's going to be alone any time soon.
Which makes an ambush tactic a Very Bad Idea. Not that Vorona's against fighting the other man also present, but she knows that Shizuo's strength is enough of a challenge for her. If the other man turns out to be a worthy opponent, too, then she might just be biting off more than she could chew.
Still, giving up and going home isn't something she's ready to settle with just yet. The curiosity is almost enough to burn her from the inside out; her heartbeat's on overdrive within her chest, leaping to life beneath the frame of her ribs and drumming hard enough for her to hear it within her skull. She thinks, if she leaves now, her heart might just leap out from within her head; and ironically, it's because she wants to live that she reveals herself, clothed in a rider's suit and wearing what looks to be full face helmet.
Certainly it's an out of place image in such a rural area, especially given the fact that she's carrying what looks to be an armful of weapons. Blades of all shape and size, and several blunt objects protrude from the rather unorganized pile she's carrying in her hands(she couldn't get a gun in the weapon shop, and it might just cost her, she thinks, considering her ballistic knife barely scratched him the last time she tried a blade, but...). Casually, as if she's dropping a sack of potatoes, she lets the weapons fall onto the grass, not attacking, not even preparing herself. She simply cants her head in Shizuo and Zack's direction, deliberating...
And then, retrieving her journal from the stack on the floor, she opens it up, scrolling through the population list, finds Zack's icon and name... Thirty seconds later, she raises her journal, points at it, points to Zack. In his journal should be the following message: ]
STAY OUT OF THE WAY, AND YOU WILL REMAIN SAFE. WILL NOT ATTACK.
[Zack's in the middle of chatting it up with Shizuo when his journal pings him, and he opens it up to catch sight of the message, obviously meant for him. And immediately become alarmed, hopping off the fence to look around. As he's looking, he passes the journal over to Shizuo, lips pursing.]
Vacation's over, man. Looks like someone's out to pick a fight.
Shizuo sits up a little straighter, staring at the page for a moment. The only thing that stops him from balling it up and tossing it away is that it's not his, so it's stiffly returned to Zack's hands. ] There.
[ ... it's a woman. That's the only thing that keeps the slasher smile and the mantra of kill destroy break break WRECK from overtaking his thoughts. ] What the hell?
Shizuo turns his head in her direction, and like a sprung trigger to a trap, Vorona's arm goes flinging forth, releasing what seems to be a blur of red and brown and something distinctly metallic despite the fact that there's no sun to flare across the surface.
... needless to say, it's no time to axe questions -- someone should probably move. ]
[ He moves by instinct - the only thing saving him from ending up with that axe embedded in his skull. it skims over his shoulder and embeds itself into the fence behind him. ]
[ ... that could have killed zack. he doesn't really notice (nor particularly care) that the axe was aimed at him, not at first, but the realization that it could have killed his friend strikes him.
the fact that it was aimed at him dings the ragedar up to 60. ]
Zack, stay put. [ any attempt the other man makes to get involved will be met with a swift punch to the head. Shizuo pulls his sunglasses off, tucking them into his front pocket. ]
You threw that axe, right? [ and so it begins, the steady rationalization. the cigarette snaps in his hands. it's tossed to the side as he starts walking, crushed under the heel of his shoe. ]
[ whatever serenity shizuo had before is shattered. his peaceful expression is replaced instead with the crazy, slasher smile one might expect to see in a horror movie, just before someone is killed. ]
Which means you can't complain if I kill you, right?! [ better get something out, vorona, because shizuo's wrenching one of the fence posts out of place with one hand and lunging at you. ]
[ And that -- is exactly the response she'd been hoping for.
Vorona is still not used to it, how quickly and completely this man can go from exuding the most peaceful of calms to radiating enough rage to light something aflame. Still, she remembers this well ("as if a fighter jet were flying behind her, its rotary machine guns aimed at her back"). Only this time, she's facing Shizuo head-on, meeting the heat and the sharply rendered air like that of a plane headed straight for her on the runway.
But even with the cold sweat running down the sides of her face within her helmet, despite the way her hair's on end and the adrenaline rush leaves her throat dry and her chest hurting, trying to contain her violently racing pulse... ]
[ But she doesn't have much time to enjoy her momentary bliss. She reaches into her pile for two items next: something wooden, something long, and a third item that ends up hidden between the other two, a faintly glittering thread.
The first item she aims at him is a crossbow, and much like her first attack, it's direct; she aligns her shot, releasing the arrow in line with the bartender's chest. Immediately after, she darts to the side, her heels digging into mud and grass and slowing her down but not quite enough to keep her movements from being as precise as they are.
No, she simply runs for it, stopping only when she's at the very edge of the pasture, digging the lance that she has left in her hands into the ground as deeply as she can muster with her own strength...
[ the arrow is snatched out of midair and shattered in Shizuo's insane grip. the roar shizuo lets out is something feral and wild, an almost inhuman sound of fury. he kicks off - that inhuman strength means that the suction of the earth means nothing to him. the runs, whipping the board out, flinging it hard toward the woman posing the current threat - ignoring the danger plain to see in front of him. ]
It's alarming, of course. A wild beast is what he's like, but she can still sense the human inside of this man, even when he's charging at her with teeth bared and eyes wide with a fury she swears she can feel searing across her skin. It's a jarring juxtaposition and it's enough to strike fear down to her very bones.
But she can't -- she can't, she can't -- afford to let her attention stray. By the time Shizuo reaches her, the board reaches her, she moves, darting to the side and underneath the piece of wood that flies right over her head, sending wisps of disturbed air tickling along the back of her neck and shoulders. She barely has the time to register that she has goosebumps, to realize that she had narrowly avoided being beheaded by a piece of fence -- and then she's whipping out the steel thread she has in her hand, looping it so that it's situated in front of the man before she proceeds to propel herself behind him just as he's going towards her.
One end of the thread is in her hand, the other is tied around the lance that she had stationed into the ground -- if she can just use the man's own momentum against him, she might be able to slice his skin, but... ]
