CAPSLOCK MOEY
I have had this cold that won't let go and it's basically turned into The Cough. By the end of the day I either sound a) sexy or b) like I've been smoking 2 packs a day since '87. So I tried not to shout at the volleyball game today, but they drove me to it. I had to be head coach (I'm the assistant) because the head coach was an hour away in a training session and was going to be late. So about today's game...
First, a little background: we have had to rearrage our starting lineup because these parents have been bitching and complaining that their kids aren't playing. I'm all about letting everyone play but long story short, if it's your first year, you probably don't get to start in the first or second games. Volleyball is hard enough to sub, and when you lose the first two matches - and we lose the first two - there is no third. Little opportunity for 18 people to get playing time. But today we decided to start some of the girls who had parents complaining. This did nothing except piss off the girls with seniority and experience who should have been starting and when they went in they completely messed up. It threw off their whole game. It was so sad.
So anyway, on to the real reason I'm venting. We go to start and the girls go out on the court and I see that one of the girls with the bitching parents who is supposed to start is missing. Where is she? On top of the bleachers TALKING ON HER CELLPHONE. I fought hard not to lose it. I fought hard not to do a Bobby Knight and throw a chair. It was HARD. I did scream at her to "YOU ARE TALKING ON YOUR PHONE? WHAT THE HECK DO YOU THINK YOU'RE DOING? YOU'RE SUPPOSED TO BE ON THE COURT! GET OFF THE PHONE OR YOU'RE NOT PLAYING! Then after we start to play, the official sends three of them off the court (including cellphone girl). Why? Well you'd think after I told them and some of the other girls went around and told them to TAKE OFF ALL JEWELRY, well you'd THINK everyone would have, you know, TAKEN OFF ALL JEWELRY. Guess who still had their earrings in? You guessed it! Girls with bitching and complaining parents! I wanted to DIE and take a few people with me on my journey. The whole gym heard me freak out on them. What drove me even further into CAPSLOCK was the fact that they mosied off the court like we had ALL THE TIME IN THE WORLD. All that did was give me more time to YELL. "WHY ARE YOU THREE THE ONLY THREE NOT PAYING ATTENTION? WHY DOES SOMEONE ELSE HAVE TO TELL YOU TO DO SOMETHING THAT I AND YOUR TEAMMATES ALREADY TOLD YOU TO DO?" I went on some more but I'll spare you. Just know that I was pissed. I am usually a calm, laid back person, but stupidity makes me NUTS.
