Where are the OFFICIAL STATEMENTS?

This whole Charlotte Lennox thing started out amusing, but the more I sit here and read comments and LJ entries, and the more I think about "Charitywank," the more angry I become. I realize that some people really were duped and are feeling poorly. Understandable. It isn't fun to be betrayed. Many of these people were unaware, or weren't privvy ( Read more... )

I read her appology that she posted yesterday and I appreciate that she posted anything as that was more than I ever thought she would do. At the same time, it was pretty weak. The things that really got to me were the implication that there was never even an attempt to contact JournalFen to see if they would release the IP address. Even if the TOS said contrary, it would have been nice to fire off 1 email and just see what would happen. I'm also confused as to where this "so kind to others" thing has come from. From what I've read, it doesn't look like msscribe ever actually did anything charitable- they all seem to have either been things designed to improve her standing or for people who didn't exist. And, what's up with the whole "99%" didn't have anything to do with me? If a small handful of people at GT could be "responsible" for so much how can she now claim to not have some ethical, if not actual, for this. If nothing else, some of the charitygate awfulness could be mitigated by her pitching in for efforts now. Also, am I the only one who doesn't really believe she's capable of being that far away, even during maternity leave? It seems to be quite the convient excuse.

The thing that seems to be striking me the most about certain responses is how much they remind me of the Bush administrations' responses to criticism- ignore, discredit in the realm of public opinion with much distortion or ignoring of fact, and then, if trully pressed, offer an apology that is heavy on the sound bite and light on the sincerity and depth. This is certainally not true of all, but does seem to be the case in certain, notable, instances.
