I just told my parents that I was thinking about looking at colleges in Hawaii

"Arrree you CRAZY?"
"Look up the cost and then tell us you want to go to Hawaii"
"How are you going to pay to get home"
"The bank won't lend you money to get home"
"Its 8 hours from home maureen"

ummm...yea...the idea of college was to get AWAY from Home

So my response was
"Not to be rude or anything but I wasnt planning on coming home all the time and your not paying for college, so you dont really have a say in where I go"

Finally I got that off my chest and the response wasnt THAT terrible

"Well then you better start saving money for applications"

umm...OK!!!! I can do that

I know I know they had nothing nice to say about it but the mere fact that they recognize that they really shouldnt tell me where i can and cant go because I have to pay off the debts is very very relieving
