O-okay, okay. Jeeze. Just... walk me through that again. You have a squid?

[Points to her hair - for reference, it looks like this.]

"No, they're tentacles! Here, watch!"

[And she just glares at Ren for a few moments. Nothing happens.]

[Nothing at all happens. She just stares like that for a few seconds longer before bursting into tears.]

"What's wrong with my tentacles? Why aren't they working?"

[She grabs one of them in her hand, gently cradling it.]

"Am... am I dying...?"

[Holy 0 to50, Batman! After a brief moment of stuttering, Ren manages to get his words together again.]

Wh-what? No! Don't be silly. You're just in Mayfield.

[Collapses to her knees, tears forming at the sides of her eyes.]

"But... but they're so lifeless..."

No, they're... they're okay. When you first get here, you sorta... lose a lot of what you had. [And he'll be offering an awkward hand to help her back up again.] It'll be okay. Just takes time t' get the things that make us special back.

[Squid Girl sighs, staring at the hand distrustfully for a moment before taking it and standing.]

"So I wonder if..."

[She trails off in thought for a moment before making some disgusting-sounding throaty noises that sound like she might be about to throw up, but when she finally spits into her hand, it's just normal spit.]

"I can't make ink either! This is the worst!"
