I've come to the realization that my favourite characters in shows tend to be the really tall, really dorky, really stupid ones guys. There's something just so adorable about a tall moron. Maybe it's because pairings where guys are huge and girls are tiny are incredibly cute. Maybe it's because tall guys give bear hugs. Whatever the reason, I've made a list of my 5 favourite tall, dorky, and handsome characters, and added pretty pictures and little descriptions why I love them, for your entertainment.
5. Doug Wilson (Weeds)
"Sometimes I actually think I'm slightly retarded in the mouth."
I'm gonna start by saying Doug is the biggest idiot on television. That's probably part of why he's so funny. He's just this big, pathetic, sad mess, and it's kind of hard not to love him. He can't keep a wife, can't keep a job, can't do pretty much anything except smoke weed and say hilarious things. But Doug has a heart. He does care about his family despite abandoning them for a long time. In the latest season it's clear he misses his wife and kids, and the saddest part is they all think he's a joke. I still love you Dougie!
4. Finn Hudson (Glee)
"I'm going to say this in the nicest possible way, you look like a sad clown hooker."
FINN!<3 Admit it, you love him too. He can be a hypocritical jerk sometimes (I blame the crappy writing we've been getting recently), but regardless he's still incredibly nice and sweet. And half of the things that come out of his mouth make me want to hug him. And his love for food is just as strong as mine. See? ~Soulmates!~ :D But seriously, I love Finn dearly. And part of that I think is simply Cory Monteith. No matter what Finn does I can't hate him because of Cory. Cory's just as dorky as Finn, but probably the most likable of everyone in the Glee cast.
3. Roy Tenneman (The IT Crowd)
"Balloons explode. They explode suddenly, and unexpectedly. They are filled with the capacity to give me a little fright, and I find that unbearable."
A few weeks ago, instead of studying for important exams, I spent my weekend watching all the series of The IT Crowd instead. Apart form being one of the most hilarious shows ever (as with any Graham Linehan show), it also had this little Irish jem known as Roy. Roy is adorable! He's shallow, socially inept, and stubborn. He can't seem to let anything go and has too much pride. All of those are pretty much his worst faults and funniest qualities. Despite being a compleate idiot, Roy's still incredibly sweet when he needs to be. And his endless supply of quirky t-shirts will never fail to amuse me.
2. Andy Dwyer (Parks and Recreation)
"By day, Andy Dwyer, shoeshinest. By different time of day, Andy Radical, possum tackler. And by night? Do whatever I want. No job."
Aw Andy. Don't you just want to ruffle his hair and give him ice-cream? Seriously, after everything he says I pretty much just want to say "Oh Andy" and pat him. He's so, so, sweet. But he's also such a...ten year old boy? I'm surprised he managed to not be homeless anymore, let alone remain alive and healthy. But still, he's a gentleman. And almost as adorable as a puppy. Seriously, I would love to just spend a day playing childhood games with Andy Dwyer. That would be a day well spent.
1. Marshall Eriksen (How I Met Your Mother)
"Last night, I ate the best cake of my life. Do you think I'm gonna let that cake out of my life? Hell no! I'm gonna find out what bakery made that cake, and I'm gonna get some more cake!"
(Before I start, I realize that I spelled his name wrong in the picture, so...yeah. Please don't rub it in).
I love Marshall with all my heart forever and always. I think he's one of my favourite characters in anything out of any category ever. He's just so sweet and nerdy. He's smart (probably the only one on this list who fits that description), funny, adorable, dorky, caring. He's kind of the nicest man ever. He greets strangers on the streets for heaven's sake! And he's also a caring husband. He's so passionate about the things he loves, and people can only wish they were as close with their families and Marshall is with his. He's the biggest sweetheart ever, and I love him so. Also, my heart completely shattered for him when his dad died, (Jason Segal killed that scene, btw). I just wanted to hug that big, friendly giant so badly.
Seriously, though, if part of you doesn't like Marshall even a little, you're dead to me.
And that is my list of gigantic, sweet, dorky men. I hope you enjoyed it and let me know what you think. Also, please don't repost these images anywhere.
