I'm going to go read Fellowship of the Rings, now. So far, I'm under the impression Sam is a lovestruck, elf-obsessed puppy who likes gardening, Frodo's oblivious to Sams intense burning love for him, Pippin got eaten by a tree and Merry's the only smart hobbit in the lot.
