He thought about their last moments together whilst drifting away in his own bed, the bed that he hadn't slept in for months (a luxury now, compared to sleeping bags and tents), before dozing off completely. Tomorrow was Christmas, after all, and he had to make sure that he was well-rested...
-- Until some loud commotion from the living room wakes him up. Was it a wild Pokemon or something? It's not like it could be Santa - Touya was a little too old for that by now. Despite being in his pajamas, he gets up to find out the source of the noise, grabbing a few Pokeballs just in case ( ... )

It's intact, fortunately. He breathes a sigh of relief.
His clothes are in shambles. Not torn, but definitely coated in a thin layer of black soot. There is probably some on his face, and his hat was already knocked off somewhere. He can find it later. The most important thing now is placing the present by the tree where Touya--
And this is where Touya's voice hits him.
He whirls around, startled. And there's Touya, standing right there in the living room, looking at him.
... He really messed up, didn't he? ]
... Touya!
[ Well... he might as well. Even if this is more than a little embarrassing. ]
