{47} The Sound of Silence

[Pen taps. Many, many pentaps. That can't be right. Let's run another scan.]

Hmmm. That can't be right

[More pen taps. Gotta love them dots. Just one more scan.]

Everything should be out and about today. It's a beautiful morning.

I haven't heard a squirrel, a bird, or any sort of insect ever since I woke up this morning. The air pressure seems to have taken a serious dive as well. I'm running every sort of simulation I can, but the result that always turns up... it's not good.

Allow me to be doubly sure. Give me another hour or two, and I'll see if I can't find some sort of flaw in these results. It can't be. Not again.

[Added a few hours later] I've returned from a brief meeting, and it looks like we're going to start with securing everyone's homes. I have volunteers gathering wood and tools as needed, but if you all ready have the tools, please begin boarding up your windows and doors. Your things should be safe, but you should only bring your most important, precious things with you when we begin evacuation procedures. Nobody should lose their life over their favorite clock, but please take your cat with you.

Once more: Board up your windows and doors, your shops, and help your neighbors. The collected wood, nails, and tools will be placed in the center of Section One. Take as much as you think you'll need. Those of you on standby, these are your orders: See to and assist in securing the homes in Square Zero.
