All around the world

I know I say it a lot, but things have been all over the show. Case in point would be my sleeping patterns this week - I've had a weird schedule to say the least.

In other news, this month is supposed to be the busiest of my life. Four Massey Assignments, which I need to get done early, because I'm headed down to Wellington on the 20th for SkillEx Nationals (where I'm gonna take home the Gold and a trip to Japan!), and before the end of the month I have to get everything sorted for BadHorse... So I'd better get cracking!

It's a bit early in the midnight hour for me
To go through all the things that I wanna be
I don't believe in everything I see
You know I'm blind, so why'd you disagree?

Massey's been going pretty well, I got my first lot of assignments done (don't know how well I did yet though), and went down to a contact course for Marketing on Tuesday. The speaker was our course co-ordinator, who happened to also be the author of our textbook and the guy responsible for the gigantic leap Marketing took from being only about products for profit to incorporating services, non-profits and govt departments. Absolutely amazing stuff.

Take me away
'coz I just don't wanna stay
And the lies you make me say
Are getting deeper every day

SkillEx is going to be a blast this year. You might recall last time around I mentioned playing mind games with the other competitors as a fun little side-game, and this year I'm going to crank that up a notch because it was so successful last time. The aim this year is to appear so blindingly professional that it makes everyone else crippled with self-doubt. Last time when I was just doing it on the fly it was 99% successful (the guy who won beat me by just a point or two, and was sure I'd beat him), and this time I'm literally going for Gold.

Honestly, it's unlikely I'll even need to play the game, just having competed at the level in itself is a huge adjustment I've already made that the new guys won't have. It's still a lot of fun though, and without music to get me through the day, this does. The competition conditions have improved greatly this year - We're accomodated in seperate rooms instead of 8 of us crammed in to one. The categories are split into different buildings entirely for most skills, meaning I won't need earplugs or be choking on sawdust for three days straight. And finally, it's in Wellington instead of Auckland, which means more convenient travel and a chance to catch up with people. I wonder if I'll meet Renee Wright again? I won't make the same mistake twice there!

These are crazy days
But they make me shine
Time keeps rolling by

After a chat with Moni I've got some inspiration and motivation back to get filming stuff again (it's been over three months!), and so far two new projects are in the pipeline to be entered into BadHorse. One is an idea Moni's had floating around that she thinks is kinda lame, and maybe it will be but it has potential to be pretty cool, and likely to strike a chord with the BH people. The other is to film the Pizza Delivery scene from Everyone Stupid Dies and use it as sort of a teaser.

So this got me thinking about everything required - and it's not terribly much. Everything we need we either have or can get/make quite easily. It goes a little something like this:

Actors: Morgs (Morgneto), James (Jack the Pizza guy), two extras (henchmen)
Setting: Lobby (hoping to use ex-MowTown)
Costumes: Basic solid colour polo shirt and cap for James, 'evil formal' attire for Morgs (I picked up a Black shirt and striking Red tie today, looks pretty good).
Props: 3 Pizza boxes rebranded with "Drafts Pizza" Logo, $5 note.

So all in all, it's quite a simple setup (approximately equal to Subarashii: Eggsellent), and about 1:30 run time. Should be a good one!
