C&H - In my head, I always imagined a story
where waterson's higher ups, once he decides
to close the comic for good, try to force him
to write a comic showing a grown up Calvin.
Sinmce this would be a travesty, he ends the
comic by either killing off Calvin [i assume in
a wagon accident], or just having some sort
of apocalypse. Moral of the story - I'm at work
and I just got paid to write all of that! WOO!

Garfield - I don't care how dull it is to read
for the most part, when I was little I lived
and breathed garfield.

Baby Blues - One is in Newsday. One isn't.

Dilbert - Wait, Dilbert's a comic now? I assume
it's based entirely on what critics are calling
"the best $40 Anthony ever spent." How much did
I sell that to you for again Jack?

FBoFW - You wrote the word 'Lost' in the
commentary, so I was hypnotized into picking
this. While I'm discussing Lost, two thoughts:
One, Ben has some just plain Majestic moments
in Juliet's episode. OK, so its actually one
moment. When Locke asks if Ben has a plan, and
Ben, in a casual-yet-smug-and-mocking tone,
says, "I always have a plan." I wish we could
go back to villain tourney again. Also, I
really hope 'kevin' remembers nothing, and the
coordinates Ben sent him to when he left Ben
knew would send him back in time, so that he
could plant Kevin on the freighter.

Blondie - I think now is a good a time as any
to remind all that it is Pi day.

Hagar - So I was in class the other day, and I
have this really old teacher, who talks non
stop about the same stories over and over again,
and we moved into a computer lab, so now no one
listens to her anymore. I usually go on
Wikipedia, search one topic, and just let the
links take me. Well, most recently, I was
reading about Icelandic surnaming, which somehow
turned into Shinto myth, which turned back into
Norse myth, which turned into Viking Hoaxes.
Moral of the story, I'm, staging a hoax where
HAGAR LIVED.

TFS: But for what it's worth, I would have voted
for Mutts over 5 of the other comics I just
voted for.

Anyway, 20 minutes just got killed. Mission:
ACCOMPLISHED. And Jack, the thing I was talking
about regarding Zits and the learners permit
arc was regarding the initial comic. Everything
is fine, and suddenly the cops are calling about
Jeremy. It could just be me, but was there
any set up to this at all? I would have
expected at least one comic where Jeremy sweats
out taking the car, or talks about his plans,
or something. Did it not happen, or did it
occur and I just miss it or something?

When the Jeremy-driving-illegally arc started, I was only reading the comics intermittenly, so I'm not sure, but I think you're right and there was no set-up. Jerry Scott was probably just applying the old writing maxim of starting the story as late as possible; you don't really need to see Jeremy take the car out, as the cop's going to tell his parents about that anyway, and as an added bonus you get a bit of dramatic intrigue of wondering why the police are at the house.

I don't remember exactly how much I paid for Dilbert DVDs, but I think it was $25 or $30. You probably could have just rented the set for less than that cost you.
