Junsu was born in Daegu, and moved to LA when he was 10. Although Daegu would always be the place he was born, and although he'd always identify himself as Korean, LA was the place he considered home. He loved it there, loved the city, loved the people, loved the life. His friendsgroup were mostly black, with a couple of random Asians thrown in and a white boy or two, and it was through these friends that Junsu learned how to sing, dance, and even DJ and play the drums. Music quite literally became his life, he lived it and breathed it and surrounded himself with it.
After coming second place in a singing contest, Junsu was approached by a talent scout for Yong Tae. But 15 year old Junsu was reluctant to leave the life he had and the people he loved, and turned the offer down despite his parents' encouragement.
At first Junsu didn't have any regrets about turning the offer down, but as time went by, he ended up wishing he had said yes. It wasn't an opportunity that came by often, and he was starting to kick himself for saying no.
Deciding to take matters into his own hands, Junsu began to post clips of himself on YouTube. He sang, he danced, he wrote and performed his own songs and mixed in the instrument tracks himself, built up a minor online following and then sent an online application in to Yong Tae.
Soon enough he was on a plane to Seoul, and the newest trainee of Yong Tae Academy.
Life in Korea was quite different to life in LA, and Junsu found it harder to settle in than he had expected. A minor scandal with a guy and a nightclub and a few blurry but damning photos had Junsu's upcoming debut knocked back indefinitely, but the scandal was minor enough and the man talented enough that Yong Tae weren't willing to just let him go entirely. Instead they decided to wait until it had all been forgotten about. It pissed Junsu off enough that he hotfooted it back to LA after a giant "fuck you", but two weeks later he'd gone crawling back and begged to be let back in again.
It hurt his pride to have to beg, but the thought of not being able to make music his career hurt even more, and Junsu was willing to do what it took to make it work this time.
He's been with Yong Tae for 6 years total now, doing one-on-one English tutoring a few hour a week and working in a clothing store to make ends meet.
Personality:
When it comes to music, he's a bit of an elitist. He's got pride, a lot of it, and sometimes can be pretty touchy. But for the most part Junsu is a decent guy, and maybe a little more American than he is Korean.
He's a flirt but also a romantic, and kind of in love with the idea of love. Not that he'd ever admit that to anyone. He's also a playful tease, with a sense of humour thats sometimes dry, sometimes sarcastic, sometimes mean and a lot of the time really, really lame. Other people's misfortunes are hilarious to him.
And he likes to take incriminating and/or out of context pictures of his friends. If his cellphone or camera ever got stolen, or his harddrive got hacked, there is no doubt that the careers of half of the people at Yong Tae would probably be over based on the contents. But it makes for good blackmail and some even better laughs.
