so i lent my one FIF cd to a friend from church and tonight at praise band praxtice she gave it back and i blasted that sucker all the way home and had a yell-along dramatic singing with 'blue comb 78' and it was really funny/fun. i love driving-singing. especially late at nite when im sleepy :)
...speaking of praise band, i play bass in the praise band at my church, as i have siiiiiince like 2001, when i first learned ...so the girl who currently leads it is like 3 months pregnant with her 2nd child and informed me tonite that come july, shes hanging it up...and would i be willing to take over?
.........EHHHHH......
which i think i would LOVE to lead the praise band, though there are issues that have always lingered, as in the ladies in the singing ensemble treat praise and worship tme as a performance and are stupid about keys and flats and sharps and i wiiiiiish we never started giving them sheet music to follow...we used to just have the words. period. and the chords for those of us playing instruments...but our pianist first requested sheet music, since she leads some of the songs (lame-o!) and needs to know the melody...so we have had the "main" person, [we will call her patti, kuz thats her name, heeheeee...]who is also the choir director, quit, which was fine with me but now that shes back, with her freaking obnoxious tamborine and ugh. my biggest worry is that they wont take me seriously and somehow patti will weasel her way into leading it and making it stupid sooo...its easier to explain if you are there but thats all i have for that. i *do* need to learn more on the guitar though,, first and foremost. pastor ed plays guitar too, but he wont play by himself, its kinda funny. if mandy (our leader/other guitar player) isnt there then i have to play guitar with him, having no bass. sooo...and theres a girl who started playing with us, who also plays guitar...would i maybe put her on bass? would that be like demoting her? i duno, since ive just always been the bass player...but if you play guitar you can play bass. soooo not hard at all...i dont know...i have had the want to call my former pastor, as he was at our church for 10 years and knows how patti and her minions are to see if he thinks i can do it. theres simply nobody else. its been great since mandy took over and she feels that i can do well like her but she says shes not musically inclined, which she is because shes pretty good at the guitar but she 'isnt' wherein she doesnt know any musical terminology or how t read music at all...which its honestly not an issue....but anyway she thinks i can do as well as her but am able to bring a little more to the table, especially since those nights im feeling a little feisty i will put in my 2 cents, not caring what patti and co think of me and make it known what i think and what i would change about something...soo...who knows. guess ill pray about it and see....of course this means im gona have to actually go to practice every week and church every sunday. thats gona be hard for me! its ok. itll teach me discipline...
