i can say good things about anyone.
i've been reading christopher moore a lot lately. he's good.
check him out.
so far, two of my CSCI classes have been cancelled due to
lack of interest (or, lack of upperclass CSCI majors). what
sucks about this is they are required courses. it seems like
all of the elective courses are making. anyway, i needed to
have at least six hours in computer science, so i had to add
another class. the only one i could add was a special projects
class. it doesn't have a definite meeting time, and will
require more commitment than any regular course. ulm has
decided to go the cheap route and have a class design the
college of arts and sciences website. if you check, you'll
probably notice that there isn't one. so, we get to build
from the ground up. since it's for a legal organization (the
university) we must obtain licenses for any software we use
in development. it should be a royal pain. also, ulm's server,
spock, does not have php installed. WHAT?????? so, we have
our work cut out for us. the entire site must be finished by
the end of the semester. also, the computer science department
has taken it upon themselves to add the responsibility of
their department site (which hasn't been updated since i started).
so far it's 7 CSCI students, two of which have a lot of good
experience with web design and script developments, and a few
who fancy themselves as artists (graphics, flash, etc).
supposedly, there are going to be some mass communications
majors helping out (i.e. joining the class) but they've yet
to sign up. personally, i've been trying to catch up because
i've been out for so long and i think this is going to eat a
lot of my needed study time. the good news is there will be
a contributing author's page on the site when it is finished
that will contain information about everyone in the class.
public recognition can be good. it should help out with my
resume, also. "oh, yeah. i also did this: link would go here."
other classes:
database, going to be tough. the main focus for the semester.
programming in java and SQL, probably. working with mySQL DBMS.
business 101, a joke. if i get less than an A i will be very upset.
logic, easy and fun class. group discussions always lead to headaches
for me, especially with issues like abortion, bush, and such. but,
i've taken symbolic logic for CSCI (167, i think) and a lot of it
is the same.
i'm going to be teaching myself visual basic.net some time.
that's where it's at, by the way.
damn, it's late.
