TES IV Oblivion Update.

there are two new videos at IGN from the xbox 360 launch party, the first one showcasing a few Redguard NPCs, and lots of curious information (highlighted below).

1. Sometimes quests will involve trailing someone, and you'll have to track them as they go about their business during the day; they'll get food, go to church, and rent rooms, etc.

2. The main reason for the delay is optimization. The game itself is done. The framerate is trying to be increased, objects in the distance still wink out, and there are shader bugs. Recently they've increased loading times by 400%. Right now they're breaking the game (playtesting) to try and find out where they can add polish.

3. In order to join the Dark Brotherhood and certain other factions (Thief Guild), you'll have to perform assaults, murders, and lockpicks in order to be invited in. In fact, in order to join the Dark Brotherhood, you'll have to assassinate an innocent person. One of your first quests is to break into the prison and kill your former cell-mate!

4. Weather effects are back, as in Daggerfall. In the north you'll have snowstorms and in the southern regions, near Black Marsh, you'll have rain and thunderstorms (expect the forest to sway with the winds!)

5. The main quest is roughly 20-25 hours. To play through all the quests, it'll take around 100 hours.

6. Downloadable content will work just like it did for Morrowind, but Xbox 360 users will have downloadable content through xbox live. The first mod will be for horse armor. They plan to do several downloadable mods per month.

7. Argonians and Khajit will be able to wear shoes now. Fully deformable armor and clothing are in Oblivion. Every race can now wear any equipment.

8. The lockpick minigame is optional. You can use an "autoattempt" that bases itself on your skill level, and uses up an appropriate number of lockpick tools in your possession and automatically opens the lock for you.

..more as it develops. launch is still planned for march 06.
