Hi!

As many of you may know, I am currently working on a feature film, The Ballad of Burd Janet. The film draws its inspiration from the Scottish ballad Tam Lin and the decadent 1920s. A devout young "maid-of-all-work", Janet Mackinzie (played by Antonia Pugliese), must rescue her betrothed (Ian Cardoni) from his aunt, the unscrupulous spirit medium Fay Stinson (Emily Sweeney). Her actions have repercussions for all involved.

I'm shooting at historic locations in my hometown of Medford, Massachusetts -- a very misunderstood and underrated community, frequently derided as "Meffa" by others from more storied burgs. Because I am inspired by the history of my hometown, I made a point to shoot at places like the Brooks Estate and Royall House. Adding to my expenses, I am shooting color 16mm film. The cost for a day of shooting (including location fees, film stock, etc) can come out to $200/day -- peanuts by Hollywood expenses, but a princely sum for a self-employed gal such as myself.

My one wish for 2006 is to continue and complete shooting the film. The biggest need for a film production is money. Donors of $20 or more will get their names in the closing credits of the film and a DVD of the final cut, but any amount will help us. (I'm applying for a LEF grant, and am contacting "notable Medfordians" about potential donations.)

If you have any 100' daylight spools of Kodak film lying around, those would help too. (I am especially interested in 50D and 100T and 500T stocks. No Fuji, please.)

If you have props we can borrow, please contact me.

While I have a few other, more personal/superficial requests (I'd love to own a copy of Overlord or Rules of the Game and/or Renoir's book My Life and My Films), those pale in comparison to this. If you can help me out, I'd most appreciate it.

Thanks, and happy holidays.
