Canon Background: Lauren shows up in the first season sparingly as president of the Audio/Visual club, as part of Sue’s Old Maid’s Club, as a group of fans of Twilight that sink their fangs into Jacob Ben Israel, and as the girl who was able to become a part of the wrestling team because her parents sued the school.
In the second season, Lauren becomes a much more prominent character, rescuing Puck from the port-a-potty that the other football players stuffed him into and consequently striking up a deal with him to be the needed 12th member of the Glee club for a fee of Cadbury eggs and seven minutes in heaven. She ends up sticking around, however, continuing to participate in the Glee Club including Christmas, their odd forced co-op with the football team, Valentine’s day (in which we get an eyeful of her and Puck interacting as the self-proclaimed bad boy attempts to woo her,) her first solo performance, and going to Rachel’s disaster of a house party, getting drunk, and subsequently winding up with her glasses perched on Puck’s nose with the two of them sitting on the floor and watching Rachel and Blaine sing a duet.
Background (AU!Canon; HP): (dirty) As the only daughter of a pair of muggle parents, Lauren Zizes grew up with little exposure to magic, other than a magician her parents hired for her eighth birthday. The letter from Hogwarts she received just as she was preparing to go into 6th grade at a local middle school came as quite a shock to her parents, and at first was discarded as some sort of strange joke. However, as first owls, then an actual witch arrived baring the same letter (plus an explanation this time,) her parents agreed to allow her to go to Hogwarts to study magic. Lauren immediately found herself an eleven-year-old awash and in awe of the new world she was now introduced to; a world of magic that had been hidden from her eyes up until now. Lauren rode the train from platform 9 ¾ with high hopes for what the magical world could teach her.
However, she came to find that magic was much more than just waving a wand. There were Potions and Herbology to deal with, as well as quite a bit of homework. Lauren’s first year was difficult, however, it still was one she enjoyed, rising up to the challenge of learning magic and adjusting to magical life quite admirably after a month or so of floundering. She also discovered a love for flying and a fascination with Quidditch, going to every single game available to watch and rooting enthusiastically for her house.
