Counselor - Koenma: 1/2 Yes I am that bad for writing so much >.< soaringcreative June 7 2010, 02:51:08 UTC

Character Information
Name: King Enma Jr, aka Koenma
Canon Origin/Series: YuYu Hakusho
Gender: Male
Age: 19

Personality: Koenma, to be blunt, was born to lead, literally, he has no choice in the matter. Ever since he was small he's been put through his paces to learn how to be in charge. His father Enma (often thought of as a king by his frightened employees) has spent years grooming his son to take over his position one day in charge of one of the largest Wizarding Bureau's in America. Thus as you can imagine, his son Junior is has a lot to live up to.

Needless to say Koenma (a nickname developed by his friends since he was sick of being called Junior all the time) already seems quite formal and stern to many people, almost to the point where he takes his work too seriously as he can get rather snappish with people who irk him. This ranges from someone being incompetant or because they happened to snicker at the sight of a grown man who walks around with a pacifier in his mouth and 'Jr' tattooed on his forehead. Still this has the right effect most of the time as he gets things done to best of his ability.

Despite this, Koenma is still young, and as such has a few moments of failure, which often he doesn't take well. Half the time it results in him punishing whoever has messed up and frantically trying to fix things, the other half results in him cowering in fear of what his father will do to him for his mistake. Yes, as much as he hates to admit it, he is intimidated by his towering and temperamental parent, namely since the consequences of angering his father were never pleasant.

However, Koenma, believe it or not, will stand up for himself and others when it counts. It might take a serious ordeal to make him openly disagree with his father, but at that Junior is not above a little bit of rebellion to get a point across, and to prove to his old man and himself that he won't flee from confrontation. Despite his harshness he is responsible but at the time attentive to people, and tries to treat them with respect rather than intimidate them into obeying. He's even known to have a good sense of humour and overall fun to be around if someone gets to know him well enough as a person, not just a boss or son of the scary King Enma. Really he had to mature quickly and as such missed out on some of the fun of being a kid, so can act a little goofy at times, but it balances out with the responsible leader side of him quite well.

Why should they be a camp counselor? In all honesty, it wasn't really Koenma's idea in the first place for him to do a summer job. No, his father was the one who prompted and prodded him, and even no doubt lined up possible vaccancies for him in order to find him something. This is another part of Enma's controlling way of making sure his son is prepared for anything as leader. Of course he knows his boy is a novice so wants him to start out on something small, something that won't affect the national market or fate of the world if he screws up.

Still, Junior is still harbouring that bit of resistence of this control, and instead of actually looking through all the profiles of vacancies his father had put together, he did his own search. If he was going to have to do work experience instead of enjoying his summer break, at the very least he would make sure it was somewhat fun, i.e. not consisting of him sitting in stuffy office signing papers all day.

As luck would have it he managed to stumble across the wanted notice for camp councillers, and after a long debate with his father, where he argued that if he couldn't keep a bunch of kids in line there was no hope for him in a real seat of power, he permitted to take the job. All and all he has been trained for a long time to lead, he would work well as an authority figure. On the other hand he's still young himself so could still have a lot of fun with kids, not just act as a stern stick in the mud.

One roleplay sample: Darn it, it really is scorching out today. Still, no better weather for summer fun, just remember to put on sunblock today everyone. We'll list off activities at breakfast and you guys just put your names on the sign up sheets. This may be busy but it's WAY better that sitting at a desk in an itchy suit in an office where the air conditioning was bound to be on the fritz.

Remember also today we're having our mid-day nature hike, so make sure your packs are ready, we're leaving right after lunch. Oh and while I know you'll be very tempted to go leaving trails of food on the paths, don't. We don't need any other creatures turning up and raiding the mess hall thank you very much, or worse yet have a repeat of what happened yesterday in cabin five. Even if it was kinda funny those girls thought they going to catch something off that raccoon-...Damn, stop it! It's not funny at all! And besides, I KNOW Dad will have someone keeping tabs on me. I don't want to go home to a month long session of wizard invoice stamping.

And one more thing: any clever little comments about what is on my forehead or in my mouth will result in that individual being confined to their cabin during morning activities by the lake and will thus miss out on swimming and canoeing fun. That's the only warning you get so I suggest you keep any jokes to yourselves.
