Im so freaking glad these debates are over, because all they've accomplished is the creation of bitterness and anger toward individuals who differ on opinions.
You cant even ask a simple question without the recipiant getting upset. People need to learn to be at peace with their belifs, rather than be offended when anyone else has a dissenting opinion. OWN THEM. THEY ARE YOURS. NOBODY CAN TOUCH THEM. I apologize for being inquisitive and for asking questions--it is how i a) learn what/how the 'opposition' thinks, and b) helps me to solidify, or perhaps even slink away from, things i hold to be truths. It is education for me.
A friend took offense today when i asked if Kerry's biblical quotation "faith without deeds is dead" is a contradiction, citing the fact that he is a practicing Catholic but will not act outwardly to support this conviction. I am not saying the Senator is a bad man, in fact i believe quite the contrary, but geez louise, it was just a question. A question i still have yet to get a simple answer on. All i wanted to hear was the opinion of someone who SUPPORTS Kerry's stance, for my own edification.
Please, anybody, ask me why i believe what i do and i promise to do my damndest to answer to your satisfaction. You may not agree with what i believe, and that is completely fine, but the discourse and debate is what we need right now in order to FORMULATE and SOLIDIFY one's own convictions and beliefs.
Of course, for the record, i do NOT support Kerry's PLATFORM on all points. I think he was out of line in bringing up Cheney's daughter last night, but so what. Some (domestically mostly) i think have lots of merit, but not all. And that is fine, right? Like Bush, i question some of the people Kerry trusts. Take the breaking news today where the DNC plans to make the charge of "voter intimidation" against Bush, et al, on election day in certain states. That is low-down and a total snake move.
