That night was my mind (Poems about Tom)

1.

Asleep or After

a man -or maybe
a boy-

I've forgotten

lies, body curved into the
layers of blankets

upon his back:

hair and freckles that crosses
and combines
and form images

of filament fishes
(silver ones?)

2.

Out

standing (outside)

with a rare river's winds blowing your
hair
-or at least shifting it to the left-

and your lids half-closed
sleep-starved slivers

and shoeless, feet

bared
opened
and touched,

lolling out, a tongue for the ground

and a scratch on your hand

and a catch of my bare

(you are walking)

3.

Some Tea

I see

Women and
sometimes
Men they seem to
Be with

Unwrapping
necks, strip

tease
(I
barely
know

why) Heads
bobbing like
barely adolescent
birds

With half
eaten politics
and barely
sipped

Tea and
mouths full
of "I don't
know"'s and
"I'll do it

later"'s
and optimistic
miniatures
with smiles
archaic

4.

You poured milk into my cup.
I do not know how to describe the moment when you poured milk into my cup.
