The wrong motivation.

Every morning in the office, we would have a sharing session on how to improve quality of work, drive to succeed in sales and so on. This morning, My boss cited an example that makes me cringe slightly. "I was in officer cadet course during NS. Of course there will be dropouts and those who survived, ended up being officers. My PC used to tell us ' no-one force you to be in this course. you can choose to drop out if you want, and not be a man.' My dad also say to me, ' you will not be the first to drop out, and you will also not be the first who pressed on to pass the course. So why not press on and don't think too much. ' " As much as i admire my boss' never-dying spirits every morning, why i cringe is because i see more versions of brainwashes towards a common goal, that will eventually slowly but surely suck out any sense of self and soul. True motivation of living and happiness comes from within, Not by mere words of others , which might even be demeaning to some other less fortunate "Supposed weaker" ones of our evolution. A close colleague said something that totally strike a chord " A career should be something that you have control over and ultimately gives you happiness , anything otherwise, it's just a job that enslaves you." We are trained well since young and our habits and work ethics that cries " pain equates gain... " will follow us through the next decade or more. We will be too numbed to feel What's being compromised of our lives...
