Ah well, there's always another dream on the way...

Thursday went from real bad to real good.
After classes got over I finally got to go to the grocery store. Which was good because I had basically Cheese, Rice, and Wine in the house. All good things in their own right, but as far as diet staples go they're a bit lacking.
So I finally got to have a nice dinner by myself and relax for a while with some cheap wine before the Jazz concert.
Said concert was great, Tony and Ian just killed it in the second combo. Unusual to have two tenor saxes but it was great to hear two totally different but equally awesome voices just going at it.
The WildScats did this really cool piece that Zach Ziegler(former NMU tuba) wrote called Midnight, and the Jazz Band sounded really tight.
They played a Fred Sturm piece that had Tony Barrette on this crazy synth-wind thing. He was going wild with it and it had some really dense and interesting sounds coming out of it.
I wish I knew more about Jazz, I know more about fucking Gregorian chants than I do about Jazz... That needs to change.
But afterwards a bunch of us went out to Vangos and got some eats, which was fun as hell. I love being able to order a glass of wine and not have to worry about any bullshit.
Then me and John Fay went and got some Champagne from Econo to celebrate the Jazz concert and kick off spring break. Hung out with Marty and Steve, drank some shit, and watched about a million episodes of The Office.
It was really good to blow off some steam like that. To just sit around, shoot the shit, and laugh our asses off. That's the kind of dynamic I've been lacking up here, hanging out with dude-friends. I've mostly just hung around with the ladies so far, which I am definitely not complaining about...
But the dudes who I would consider my best friends are downstate a million miles away.
Phones and computers are helpful, but I'm talking about the simple act of just hanging out.
I'm finally finding some cool cats around here though, so word up.

On another note, in one of my dreams last night I found this bag full of sleep-paraphernalia that was my sister's. I said to the people I was with that it looked like stuff to help with lucid dreaming. They didn't know what that was, and I started to explain the concept to them. But I was interrupted right when I got to the part where I was going to say "sometimes when you notice something completely off-the-wall and strange it can cue you to realize that you're actually in a dream".
Which looking back I can't believe I was telling these people about lucid dreams WHILE INSIDE a dream and I didn't have the wherewithal to realize my dream state. I mean, while I was talking about it why didn't I think of telling them about periodically asking yourself if you were dreaming? I might have done it myself and gone lucid. DAAAAMNNNNIT
