1. Pick a character, pairing, or fandom you like. (Hmm, let's ponder for a min-SLERRA. YES.)
2. Turn on your music player and put it on random/shuffle.
3. Write a drabble related to each song that plays. You only have the time frame of the song to finish the drabble; you start when the song starts, and stop when it's over. No lingering afterwards!
4. Do ten of these, then post them.
VERY Slade/Terra, and I so cheated.
1) Coldplay-Shiver (Set whenever)
"Sl-l-ade, aren't you c-c-cold?"
"Cut the theatrics."
"I'm serious, I'm fr-r-eezing." She shuddered, and pulled her knees uup to her chest. She hated waiting outside, especially at night, out on the water. She didn't even have a sweatshirt. "Ge-heez."
"Fine," he exhaled.
"We're going in?" He shook his head, and pulled her against his side. She was too cold to argue.
2) The Killers-Sweet Talk (Set whenever)
"I don't want you to have to be so nice all the time-!"
"I don't understand you, first you tell me I"m pushing you too hard-"
"You don't understand-"
"NO, I don't Terra! What the hell do you want?"
"I want you to stop babying me and Help Me!"
There was a low rumble, coming from deep within the ground. "I want some help...I'm not looking for anything extra...unless you want it." She looked down to the ground. "I just need some time..."
3) The Killers-Under the Gun (Set before Aftershock)
She used to be happy with him, she used to be so full of life, she used to enjoy his company.
But now it's Slade who looks into her eyes and sees the danger, her strength. She used to be mildly terrified of him, and now he has to worry about her.
She doesn't know this, but Terra could probably kill him if she tried.
4) Coldplay-Everything's Not Lost (Set after The End and before Things Change)
My last memory, one of the last images I saw was Slade falling into the volcano, and the pain it caused me. I told Beast Boy something, but I was hardly aware of what I actually said. Then everything blacked out. Gone.
I thought I was going to die. I thought it was all over.
Then the next thing I knew was the cave air, my breath returned to me. My collapsing into his arms. He thought I was crying because I was in pain (and I was), but I was crying because I thought I'd lost everything, that I'd ruined it all. Now I had this relief.
5) Coldplay-Swallowed in the Sea (Set after The End but before Things Change)
"Your name is Terra. You were a Titan."
"I've heard this already."
"I know, but not from me."
"No, I've heard it all. Even the shitty stuff I did to you and the Titans. They told me you were following me, and when I got your message I met you here."
"So why did you come here?" he asked, genuinely surprised. "You must know what these caves mean, and this base meant," he added, gesturing to her plaque.
"Because I never was really a Titan. They never helped me, you did." She smiled, and her hair fell to cover one eye as she looked at the plaque. "I belong with you."
6) Regina Spektor-Fidelity (Set after Things CHange)
"I can't be normal if every day I'm reminded that I used to be one of them!" She screams before she leaves the building. She doesn't get to see his expression when she says it.
She walks away from the bay, from the island. She already had to talk to Beast Boy today (in school! Of all the places!), which was just enough for her to go back home to Slade and demand that they move. He never would though, and he told her so, and then they fought.
Maybe they stayed so that she would have that reminder, the 'T 'to let her know what she'd done...and if she was away from it she would forget.
So she walked to alleviate her frustrations at him and at everyone else. She eventually ended up at the edge of what used to be the carnival. Terra walked through it until she got to a bench, and sat down. She didn't react when Slade walked up to her a few minutes later.
"I need to stay here, with you," she admitted. "I want to go somewhere else but...I feel like you're the only one who really cares."
"You know that isn't true."
"If I thought it was, I wouldn't be here. I'm tired of arguing with myself." She reached out for his hand to warm hers up, and said "Let me stay with you."
7) Coldplay-Amsterdam (Set at the begnning of Aftershock)
Don't say it unless you mean it. It was one of Terra's earliest childhood rules, one of the few things she could remember from her parents, from her past.
Now she could see how important, how enormous of a choice she had to make now, so she thought it over one more time before she answered his questions.
"You have had doubts in the past. Made mistakes. But all that is behind you, isn't it?"
She was standing on the edge, ready to jump. "Yes."
"You belong to me now..." She heard him move closer, and she swallowed hard. "...don't you?"
Say what you mean, Terra. "Yes."
She had jumped...
8) Enya-Flora's Secret (Set after Betrayal)
The arm around her waist might have been a little excessive, but she didn't need to move around much. She could take in the majority of his room from where she lay.
She didn't expect it to be so open; there were four windows and a set of double doors that lead out somewhere else. It was most likely something from his past...something she wouldn't understand.
The sun was filtering in, and now she could clearly see her clothes she left on the floor. She had to smile.
His arm moved as Slade loosened his grip, and he whispered her name. She rolled over to meet his eye.
9) The Killers-Show You How (After Terra)
"Show me what you know, and we'll start from there." It was a simple instruction, but Terra was already stalling.
"Well..."
"Well what?"
"What you saw...at that fight? Thats all I know."
"Nothing else? No basic survival skills other than 'Lift and throw rocks, here's hoping it'll work'?"
"Well, no."
Slade sighed. "So, we'll start at the begining."
10) Coldplay-Fix You (set after Betrayal)
It had been weeks since Terra left Beast boy at the carnival, and Slade had just left her alone. He made sure she ate, that she was getting enough sleep, that she was taking care of herself. She was, but just barely. She had rarely left her room, and almost never spoke to him. He didn't expect to see her for a while.
"Slade?"
Her soft voice almost startled him-almost. He turned in his chair to face her.
"I don't-I mean I didn't mean to interrupt anything in here..."
"You weren't."
"Oh. I'm just, um, sorry for everything that happened here. Really, I didn't know it would hurt so much. You've been great about this. And I know that this is the most I've said to you in days so..thanks."
"Terra, I knew what you would choose. You were smart enough to make the right decision, and now you'll be better off because of it."
"I know." She looked down at the ground, shyness returning, before she mumbled, Thank you."
"We can fix this if you let me."
She looked back at him, smiling for the first time in weeks, and said "I will."
