fuck the mbox. get the digidesign 002 console. it's a highly and i mean HIGHLY evolved version of the mbox. the console has 8 inputs (4 mic, 4 line, all balanced) and each has its own channel strip. oh, and it's a FULLY AUTOMATED CONSOLE which means that it can be AUTOCONTROLLED BY YOUR SOFTWARE!!! the shit moves right in front of your eyes. i know it's fully compatible for Protools, and i'm pretty sure you can get it to work for logic too. it also has standalone mode so you can hook it up to an external recording device or monitor system and use it like an analog console (mind you, with out EQs and auxes). whole package including pro tools = $2000

but then again, if you don't have that kind of money, the mbox is cool. only about $400 new, but you can get it used for half that. it's also damn tricky to figure out that digi console if you don't know what you're doing. the mbox on the other hand is nice and easy to use and set up...but also very limited i its capacities.

but the best part about the 002? vegas mode!!! the console basically turns into a lit billboard with moving parts.
