:: Background
Originally from Los Angeles, Dean is the first born son of Gene and Julia Murphy. His childhood was remarkably typical. He grew up enjoying sports, motorcycles and rock stars. That’s what he wanted to be when he grew up, a soccer player by day and rock star by night. When he turned thirteen though, everything changed.
A pigeon landed on his window sill, nothing unusual in a big city but Dean stared at it a little too long. Somehow his mind slipped into the pigeons and for two days he flew around LA until he managed to crawl his way back to himself and his body. He woke up in the hospital, his parents panicked over the mysterious coma he was in. When he tried to explain what happened, the doctors said it was just a delusion brought on by his blackout.
Then John showed up. He was a typical looking LA resident, a little dirtier than most, rougher around the edges but he believed Dean. He also told Dean he was a sorcerer and that he was gifted with magic. He also told Dean’s parents who needed some convincing. They couldn’t deny it though and John started to teach Dean the basics of sorcerery.
As he was about to start high school, John recommended a boarding school, Riversend Academy, in Iowa. It was a special school where Dean could get a real high school education and continue his magical lessons as well. His parents were pretty happy to send their strange son away and Dean has been going to Riversend ever since.
:: Personality
On his good days, Dean’s a bit of a goof. He’s rather laid back, a bit sarcastic and thinks he’s pretty clever. He’s a bit arrogant, often over confident and pretty darn street smart. He’s learned a little humility through many magic lessons where he’s ended up the victim of his own spells.
He loves to show off his magic and refuses to hide who he is, what he is. While he likes showing off, he’s sometimes a bit embarrassed when talking about magic. He tends to wax poetic about it and that embarrasses him.
If you tell him magic isn’t real, he’ll argue with you until you give in or he has to walk away because of his temper. Magic defines him and he gets touchy about people saying it’s just a load of crap. This is where his sarcastic, rather mean side can come out. Anger makes him a little cruel and he can hold a grudge for a damn long time. After his temper wears off, if he’s truly at fault, it’ll take him a few days before apologizing. He’s ungodly stubborn sometimes.
When it comes to love, he’s cautious about falling but once he does he goes hard. Mostly, he likes to have fun in a relationship, keep it light, fun and sexy. He’s deeply loyal to lovers and friends and will do anything for them. He’s the kind of friend who would come out at 4 am to pick your drunk ass up and then tuck you in when he got you home.
:: Storylines
Main Verse: Dean is a student at Riversend Academy. A Junior, he’s working on figuring out what he wants to do after school. He plays on the school soccer team.
Adult Verse: After graduation, Dean ran away to New York. He got a job as a bike messenger, using his powers to give him an advantage over other messengers. He lives in a studio apartment and sleeps on an air mattress.
